Whether you have just been admitted or you have been taking classes for a while, there is probably a scholarship for you. Need help applying? Call, email, or stop by the Office of Student Financial Assistance for help. Remember to put your best foot forward. If an essay is required, we strongly recommend that you write in a word processing software, edit and proof, and then copy and paste your writing into your application. Remember to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. It is often the writing that will help reviewers choose the final recipient. Please find essay (if applicable), 2012-13 FAFSA, GPA, and enrollment requirements listed under each scholarship. Additional requirements are listed within the application in STARS. Please note: Final awards are based on available funds at the time of award. Academic Excellence College of DuPage Faculty Association Scholarship (G215) 2 @ $500 To support C.O.D. students on the journey to reach their academic goals. GPA requirement: 2.0 Essay: Include a written statement of 500 words or less that addresses financial need and how this scholarship would benefit your pursuit of knowledge and its application to your life. Downers Grove National Bank Scholarship (G249) 1 @ $500 To assist high school seniors expecting to graduate who have made an exceptional effort through school or community activities. Enrollment requirement: Registered or intend to register for at least 12 credit hours Essay: Provide a written statement showing evidence of exceptional effort or achievement through school or community related activities

Anthropology Ellen Johnson Memorial Scholarship (G220) 1 @ $1,000 To honor the memory of Ellen Johnson, an Anthropology professor at C.O.D., a life long learner and educator. Essay: Submit a one page essay discussing how anthropology fits into future plans Behavioral Science Harkins Women's Scholarship for Excellence in Sociology (G384) 1 @ $500 To honor a female student who has demonstrated excellence in the study of Sociology and to encourage a student to pursue Sociology as a field of study Enrollment requirement: completed 30 credit hours and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours GPA requirement: 3.5 Walter R. Jones Memorial Scholarship (G405) 1 @ $2,000 In memory of Walter R. Jones; Psychology Professor at C.O.D.. This scholarship is offered annually to students with a major in Behavioral Sciences to recognize and reward academic excellence. Business/Accounting State Bank of Countryside Scholarship (G264) 1 @ $1,250 To assist a graduating senior from Lyons Township North; Nazareth Academy or Hinsdale South high schools who has made an exceptional effort through school or community activities Enrollment requirement: Intend to be a full time student at C.O.D. (12 credit hours) Essay: Provide a written statement showing evidence of exceptional effort or achievement through school or community related activities

Community Service Student Ambassador Scholarship (G519) 1 @ $500 To recognize a student involved in campus life through the student ambassador program and who has ambitions to continue their education at a four year institution upon graduating from C.O.D. Enrollment requirement: half-time (6 credit hours) Construction Road Builder Charities Scholarship (G370) 1 @ $1,000 To encourage students to enter into the construction field. Criminal Justice Michael Browning Memorial Scholarship (G266) 1 @ $500 To support a student pursing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice and to honor the memory of West Chicago Police Officer Michael A. Browning who was killed in the line of duty on April 20, 1992. Culinary Teen Culinary Challenge (G309) 1 @ $2000; 1 @ $1,000; 1 @ $500 To assist high school seniors preparing for a career in the culinary arts. (must have applied to a C.O.D. culinary program) GPA requirement: 2.0 Essay: No

Earth Science Bill Allaway ESCONI Scholarship (G331) (Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois) 1 @ $2,000 To assist a student interested in pursuing a field of study and employment in any area generally included under the umbrella of Earth Science. Enrollment requirement: 8 credit hours GPA in earth science courses and 2.0 in other courses in college, or minimum 3.5 GPA in high school Engineering Donald B. Carter Memorial Engineering Scholarship (G455) 1 @ $500 In memory of Donald Boone Carter's role as a business man, as an engineer; as a citizen and as a father, this fund will provide for the general expenses of students studying in the engineering field. This scholarship may be renewable dependent on review. Enrollment requirement: 12 credit hours and enrolled in one of the following: any engineering course or any calculus-based physics course (PHYSI 2111 or 2112 or 2115) or any calculus course beyond Calc I (MATH 2232 or 2233 or 2270) Essay: Career goals (less than 500 words) Troy Scholarship for Engineering (G938) 1 @ $500 To assist an engineering student with tuition, books or fees. Financial Need Eileen Ward Textbook Scholarship (G105) 2 @ $400 each To assist students with the expenses of a college education.

Foundation's Textbook Scholarship (G904) 40 @ $500 each To provide funds to purchase textbooks and supplies. Enrollment requirement: half-time (6 credit hours) Joos Memorial Scholarship (G406) 1 @ $500 To honor the memory of the late Gregory D. Joos; who was the Director of Human Resources for C.O.D. 2001 to 2008. Greg was the first generation in his family to attend college and would have been pleased to know that these funds were assisting students with financial need who may be the first in their family to attend college. Essay: Provide a 200-word written statement of what it means to be able to attend college Mary Mack Textbook Scholarship (G446) 2 @ $150 each In honor of Mary Mack's belief in the power of education this scholarship is offered for textbook support to students taking classes in the spring and/or fall semesters who have financial need. Fine Arts Gregory Lon Wilson Memorial Scholarship (G565) 1 @ $1,000 To honor the memory of C.O.D. Photography Instructor and former student; Gregory Lon Wilson. This scholarship is offered annually to a student enrolled in the photography program. Enrollment requirement: full-time (12 credit hours) GPA requirement: 2.0 Essay: Provide an essay explaining career objectives and who Gregory Lon Wilson was and what he added to C.O.D. FAFSA: N/A

Tandaric Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship (G522) 1 @ $1,000 To honor the memory of Edward and Caroline Tandaric, musician and artist, and to assist a student enrolled in the Associate Degree of Fine Arts. Edward was a member of the Chicago Windy City Ramblers, the Illana Jazz Club and a life-long fan of Dixieland Jazz. Caroline was a member of the DuPage Art Guild and a local award winning artist with one of her paintings in the famous sofa scene from "Risky Business". GED Graduate Certificate of GED Scholarship (G273) 4 @ $1,000 each To encourage GED recipients to continue their education. Essay: Submit a 100-word written statement describing desire to pursue a college education GED Graduate Scholarship (G902) 2 @ $500 each To encourage GED graduates to continue their studies at C.O.D. passed the GED exam in the last 18 months. Essay: Submit a 200-word written statement that indicates self-direction and established goals Graphic Arts The Chicago Printing Inks Graphic Arts Scholarship (G293) 1 @ $500 To support part-time students in Graphic Arts who have an interest in ink technology. and have completed 25 credit hours including Graphic Arts 1160 Color Reproduction Techniques GPA requirement: 2.0 Essay: Provide a written statement about my interest in ink technology

Health Troy Scholarship for Nursing (G939) 1 @ $500 To assist a nursing student with tuition, books or fees. Illinois Health Improvement Association Scholarship (G392) 2 @ $1,000 each To assist Illinois community college students enrolled in a health care program that will benefit Illinois residents. Enrollment requirement: Enrolled in a health care program that provides direct medical care to individuals Essay: Written statement illustrating intent to practice in Illinois or a city adjacent to the Illinois border where Illinoisans go for primary health care Margarita Salazar Respiratory Therapy Scholarship (G940) 1 @ $500 To honor the memory of Margarita Salazar by supporting her dedication to the field of Respiratory Therapy through financially assisting a student enrolled in the program. Enrollment requirement: full-time enrollment in Respiratory Therapy GPA requirement: 2.75 History Lon A. Gault Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence in History (G354) 1 @ $500 To honor a student who has demonstrated success in the study of history and to support a student working to attend C.O.D. and has inadequate resources to attend full-time. and enrolled in history classes in history classes (must have letter of recommendation)

Homeless Youth Rotary Club of Central DuPage Scholarship (G170) 1 @ $1,000 To enable unaccompanied homeless youth to pursue education at the College of DuPage. Enrollment requirement: Applied for admission to C.O.D. (part-time) Essay: Provide a 750-word essay describing education goals Rotary Club of Central DuPage Textbook Scholarship (G175) 1 @ $500 To enable unaccompanied homeless youth to pursue education at the College of DuPage. Enrollment requirement: Applied for admission to C.O.D. (part-time) GPA requirement: N/A Essay: Provide a 750-word essay describing education goals FAFSA: No Horticulture Floral Design Memorial Scholarship (G345) 1 @ $500 To offer financial assistance to vocational oriented floral design students in memory of John "Johnny" A. Novak and Isadora "Izzy" I. Budasi, two highly talented floral designers who touched the lives of thousands of people throughout their careers with their originality and imaginations. Additionally, both Izzy and Johnny believed in the professionalism of floral design, requiring standards of quality, design and creativity to be maintained at an elevated level. & completed HORT 1100 Tri-Village Garden Club Scholarship (G524) 1 @ $1,000 To offer a scholarship to a Horticulture student who meets the established criteria and has the desire to succeed in the Horticulture program at C.O.D.. Enrollment requirement: half-time (6 credit hours)

HS Academic Excellence Glenbard North High School Scholarship (G355) 1 @ $1,000 To recognize a Glenbard North High School Senior who has achieved academic excellence and served school and community; and to encourage his/her higher education. Enrollment requirement: apply to C.O.D. and will enroll at least part-time. GPA requirement: HS 4.0; Maintain 3.0 at C.O.D. Essay: Provide a written statement showing service to school and community in extra -curricular activities (involvement in music or drama or newspaper or yearbook or clubs to take precedence over straight academic involvement) Information Technology CDW Women in Technology Scholarship (G350) 3 @ $1,500 each To support women seeking a degree in technology. Essay: Submit a 750-word essay describing career goals Edward R. Valintis Technology Scholarship (G528) 5 @ $1,000 To assist second year students enrolled in a technology program. and completed 24 credit hours toward program completion. (See application for list of eligible programs) Mary Lynn (Molly) Tomer Scholarship (G523) 1 @ $2,500 To aid students in need of financial assistance who are pursuing an Associate in Health Information Technology (HIT). and completed 24 credit hours in the HIT program. Have a 3.0 GPA or better Essay: optional

Math August J. Zarcone Memorial Scholarship (G588) 1 @ $1,000 In memory of August J. Zarcone; a math professor at C.O.D.. This scholarship is offered to a student with a Math major to recognize and reward academic excellence. Enrollment requirement: half-time (6 credit hours). Completed Math 2134 or higher GPA requirement: 3.75 Essay: optional Math/Engineering S.C. Reed Scholarship (G498) 2 @ $2,500 each With many in their family who attend C.O.D.; the Reed family would like to assist students by providing a merit based scholarship for those studying in the Math and Applied Sciences area with a preference given to a student majoring in the field of Engineering. In addition; the award is named after S.C. Reed; a man of high moral standards and a strong leader who worked in the engineering field. Enrollment requirement: full-time (12 credit hours). Completed one semester at C.O.D. and part or all of the Calculus series Essay: Provide a written statement of up to 500 words demonstrating self-motivation leadership and high moral standards Minority Hispanic Latino Scholarship (G919) 2 @ $1,000 each To support a student of Hispanic ancestry. Enrollment requirement: Be a high school senior or a recent high school graduate planning to enroll parttime or a continuing freshman at C.O.D. (less than 30 credit hours) GPA: 2.5/4 or 3.5/5 Essay: Provide a 500-word essay on future goals and how education would be used to assist the Hispanic community and letters of recommendation (see online application). Natural Science B.J. Hoddinott Wildlife Ecology Scholarship (G367) 3 @ full tuition each To assist a student interested in pursuing a field of study in Wildlife Biology or Wildlife Ecology in Natural Sciences.

Enrollment requirement: full-time (12 credit hours) GPA requirement: 2.8 Essay: optional Performing Arts Howard K. Canaday Music Scholarship (G190) 1 @ $2,500 To honor the memory of Howard K. Canaday, a great son, a good friend, entrepreneur, photographer, music aficionado and College of DuPage alum. Enrollment requirement: full-time (12 credit hours) in Fine Arts program focusing on Music Essay: optional John Belushi Choral Scholarship (G230) 1 @ $1,000 To support a choral student. Enrollment requirement: high school senior or graduated within the last six months. C.O.D. part-time enrollment. Essay: Must submit an essay describing music experience and goals for work in the field and letters of recommendation Physical Education Julie Svec Memorial Scholarship in Athletics (G417) 1 @ $1,000 To recognize an outstanding second year student pursuing an interest in athletic training; athletic programming/coaching or physical education. Enrollment requirement: full-time (12 credit hours) and have completed 24 credit hours Essay: Must write a 500-word essay about your experience at C.O.D. and submit one letter of recommendation Study Abroad Dick Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund (G206) 1 @ $300

In memory of Dick Wood's leadership as the founder of the Global Education program (formerly the International Education Studies program) at C.O.D. and in light of his passion for the United Kingdom as an educational destination. and enrolled or will enroll in C.O.D. sponsored student abroad program in Great Britain. Essay: optional Veterinary A.R.C. Memorial Scholarship (G620) 1 @ $500 In memory of Amanda Carlson who loved and cared for animals to support students in the C.O.D. vet tech program. Enrollment requirement: par-time enrolled in the veterinary tech or veterinary assistant program Essay: Provide a written statement describing a memorable experience with an animal and why you want to work in the field. Vocational Technology Elmhurst Rotary Club Vocational/Technical Scholarship 1 @ $1,000 To assist students who are in need of financial aid to pursue education in vocational and technical courses leading to a two or four year degree. Enrollment requirement: half-time (6 credit hours) Essay: Written statement about future goals Praxair Welding Scholarship (G702) 2 @ $1,250 each To assist students in need of financial aid who are pursuing a certificate in welding.
