NetTutor Free Online Tutoring Available To All WATC Students How To Access NetTutor & Overview Of NetTutor Services

How To Access NetTutor Start by opening up the WATC website. www.watc.edu. At the top of the page there will be a gray banner bar. On this gray banner bar click on the Blackboard link.

Log In To Blackboard Enter your username and password. Then click Login.

My Tutoring Once you are in your Blackboard course you can access NetTutor by clicking on the My Tutoring option on the left side of the page.

NetTutor Demonstration Videos For First Time Users On the next screen you have two options: 1. NetTutor Demonstration Videos 2. Start a NetTutor Tutoring Session If this is your first time to use NetTutor we recommend you watch the demonstration videos. There are two videos available, and the topics covered in these videos help you better understand how to use all the features in NetTutor.

Start Your Tutoring Session It is now time to start your NetTutor tutoring session. Click on the Start Tutoring Session link, and this will take you into NetTutor.

What Subject Do You Need Help With? There are 30 different subject areas to choose from for tutoring. Scroll down the list to find the subject area you are needing help with. Click on the link for that subject.

NetTutor Dashboard The NetTutor Dashboard is where you can access the various services offered by NetTutor, update your account information, view the schedule for live tutoring, review your archived sessions, and retrieve papers and Q&A Center responses. Also on the NetTutor Dashboard you have options for contacting customer support.

Ask NetTutor Live One To One Help Clicking on the Ask NetTutor link will take you into a live one to one tutoring session.

NetTutor WorldWideWhiteboard After clicking on the Ask Net Tutor link, the WorldWideWhiteboard will appear. This is the interface you will use to submit your questions and to interact with a tutor. It has four areas: the whiteboard canvas, the chat box, the toolbar, and the menu bar.

Whiteboard Canvas The whiteboard canvas is where most of your interactions with the tutor will take place. You can click on Text in the top left hand corner of the toolbar and then type your questions in the typing field. When you are finished, press the Enter or Return key.

Chat Box You can use the chat box to type messages, but you will find the whiteboard canvas more comfortable when interacting with a tutor on homework questions. Also in the chat box the tutor can give you permission to turn on audio and video functions so you can converse with the tutor through headset and/or webcam.

Toolbar The toolbar has options for putting text, equations, shapes, images, fractions, and other items onto the whiteboard canvas. There are also options for moving objects, changing the color of your text and objects, and highlighting objects. For a more in depth overview of all the functions of the toolbar check out this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvaloqx q8zq

Menu Bar The menu bar has a number of options: you can save or print your session, undo mistakes, display symbol palettes, or change your font size or color. There is also a timer that helps you gauge the length of the session and undo and redo buttons.

NetTutor Q&A Center The Q&A (Question and Answer) Center allows you to submit your questions to a tutor and retrieve the tutor s response at a later time. This option is always available, and you can always submit your question. In the Q&A Center type your problem, any work or initial thoughts related to solving the problem, and any specific questions you may have. Submit, and a tutor will review. You will receive an email notification when a tutor responds to your question. Then at your convenience you can come back to the NetTutor Q&A Center and retrieve the tutor response.

NetTutor Paper Center You can submit writing assignments through the Paper Center. Tutors will provide feedback to help guide your revisions, giving suggestions on topic development, organization, clarity, grammar, and sentence structure. They will make comments to help you improve as a writer. It is up to you to take the tutor s feedback and make any necessary changes: the tutor will not correct sentences for you.

NetTutor Paper Center Submission Form To submit a paper to be reviewed by a tutor you will need to complete the NetTutor Paper Center Submission Form. Each field needs to be completed. These fields help the tutor learn about your paper and your writing goals. You need to select two areas for specific feedback. In addition to general feedback about your paper, the tutor will provide detailed feedback for those two selected areas. After a tutor has reviewed your paper you will receive an email notification. Come back to the NetTutor Paper Center to retrieve the reviewed paper.

My NetTutor Tutorial Archive The My NetTutor Tutorial Archives is where you can view the live tutorial sessions you have completed. You can choose to view your sessions, watch a video playback of your session, or download your session as a pdf file. If you want to ask a tutor further questions about an archived session, you can drag and drop the pdf file onto the whiteboard during a live session.

NetTutor Customer Support At the bottom right of the NetTutor Dashboard there are two customer support icon links. The icon on the left will take you to a NetTutor user manual. The manual will help you to better understand how to get the most our of the NetTutor platform. The icon on the right will allow you to ask for support from NetTutor.
