Briefing on the Japanese Government- Sponsored MEXT(Ministry of Education, Culture Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship 2018 09:00am - 10:30am Wednesday, 26 th and Thursday 27 th April, 2017 at Library Auditorium, University of Botswana
Aim To expand the chances of further education in Japan for international, young and bright students. To enhance understanding about Japan among young generations internationally. Term Benefit Research students (Post-graduate): Basically for 2 years from April or Oct 2017 up to March 2019 (including a 6 month Japanese language training in Japan) *extendable Undergraduate students: Basically for 5 years from April or Oct 2017 to March 2022, including 1 year preparatory Japanese language education Full Tuition Fee Round-trip flight between Botswana to Japan Monthly allowance The Japanese Yen equivalent to about US$1,309 for Research students and about US$1,050 for Undergraduate students will be provided monthly for the living expense.
Research Students(Postgraduate) The same major studied at the university level. The field on which he/she can receive education at the university of his/her choice in Japan. Business Administration. (2) Natural Sciences A: Science (1. Mathematics, 2. Physics, 3. Chemistry), Electric and Electronic Studies (4. Electronics, 5. Electrical Engineering, 6. Information Engineering), Mechanical Studies (7. Mechanical Engineering, 8. Naval Architecture), Civil Engineering and Architecture (9. Civil Engineering, 10. Architecture, 11. Environmental Engineering), Chemical Studies (12. Applied Chemistry, 13. Chemical Engineering, 14. Industrial Chemistry, 15. Textile Engineering), other fields (16. Metallurgical Engineering, 17. Mining Engineering, 18. Maritime Engineering, 19. Biotechnology). B: Agricultural studies (1. Agriculture, 2. Agricultural Chemistry, 3. Agricultural Engineering, 4. Animal Science, 5. Veterinary Medicine, 6. Forestry, 7. Food Science, 8. Fisheries), Hygienic studies (9. Pharmacy, 10. Hygienics, 11. Nursing), and Science (12. Biology). C : 1. Medicine, and 2. Dentistry. 3
Who can apply for the scholarship? Research Students(Postgraduate) Age: Born on or after April 2, 1983 Academic Background: a graduate from a university or have academic ability equal or superior to that of a university graduate. Undergraduate Students Age: Born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2001 Academic Background: Either completed a 12-year regular school education or have graduated from a school equivalent to an upper secondary school in Japan 4

Research Students The University or research institute to which the applicant are going to be accepted should be contacted by the applicant directly after all the selection by the Embassy. For those who passed the exams, it is requested to arrange to get the acceptance letter from the university or the institution. The Embassy of Japan is able to assist in searching the appropriate university or institution, if inquired. Undergraduate Students The selection for undergraduate grantees is highly competitive. The applicants are expected to perform an excellent result on all the academic exams. Applications should be submitted by hand or post DEADLINE: Friday, 26 th May 2017 to the Embassy. 9
