K-12 ALP Administrators ADMINISTRATORS ONLY A Case for Rigor: Expectations of Advanced Content and Honors Classes Advanced Learning is offering a one hour session for interested administrators centered on course expectations for advanced content and honors classrooms. Discussion will focus on the rigor and pedagogy of advanced learning coursework. K-12 EdCamp Edcamp (North & South locations) Breakout EDU Cobb Style EdCamp is an unconference model of professional learning, meaning there are no vendors, no keynotes, and no set session schedule until you arrive. What does that mean? With this participant-driven professional learning model, the participants set the schedule of sessions the day of the event, and anyone who chooses to facilitate a session may do so. Sounds weird we know...but it really works! Plenty of door prizes! Breakout EDU is the immersive learning games platform. The Cobb "Breakout EDU kit" allows for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box. Games are available for all ages and content areas. This Cobb version training includes a kit for the 25 participants. Standards 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 Standards 1,3,4 Classroom Pandemonium Phase 1 -- Writing Positive Support Plans Completing a Brief FBA: Understanding the Why Behind Student Behavior Incorporating Language and Content Objectives in Lesson Preparation and Delivery Read 180 Digging Deeper into the Mixed Model (K-5 & 6-12) Participants will learn effective strategies for cultivating a positive learning environment. This includes strategies for teacher organization, positively managing student behaviors, and building rapport with parents and students. Participants will learn how to write a positive support plan. This includes being able to identify and operationally define behaviors that are impeding the student s learning, using the behavior toolkit to determine daily supports to help manage student behavior, and developing plan for when behaviors occur. This presentation will include an overview of completing a Brief FBA and Positive Behavior Support Plan. Participants will be guided through the entire Brief FBA process in order to create a function-based plan to appropriately address student behavioral concerns. ESOL focused -- Incorporating Language and Content Objectives in Lesson Preparation and Delivery, This is a follow-up training for newly trained teachers who use READ 180/System 44. We will dig deeper into how to use both programs in the same classroom. In addition, we will have peers discuss how they successfully incorporate both programs into the classroom. Teachers will need to bring a fully charged laptop, Teacher Implementation Guides for both programs and The Screening, Assessment, Reporting Guide (SARG) for Read 180 and the Placement, Assessment, Reporting Guide. Bring your laptops and questions! She's here to help! Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The foundations of specialized instruction and how to simplify the work of specializing instruction will be shared with teachers. Cross Cutting concepts in Science have application across all domains of science. As such, they are a way of linking the different domains of science. They include patterns; cause and effect; scale, proportion, and quantity; systems and system models; energy and matter; structure and function; and stability and change. In this presentation we will show how to utilize these in your 3d Science Classroom. While studying and analyzing primary documents is a critical skill, it does not come easily for all students. Modifying primary documents for use in the classroom is necessary for student success. We will walk through the process of preparing various documents and images for different types of learners
