Learning will take place in close cooperation with industrial life. Assignments are related to marketing, international business, management and financial accounting, human resource management and business communication among others. Studies give statutory qualifications concerning public libraries. In the studies knowledge of producing data and data transmission, appliance of information technology and economics in information management organizations, development of customer-oriented mode and interaction skills are emphasized. Students can select following study modules: information technology (data networks, hypermedia etc.), intra- and entrepreneurship, expert organisations, marketing, languages and juridical studies (internet law etc.). Learning will take place in close cooperation with local libraries and other service units in the field. Career opportunities are for example: a software analyst, a software designer, a programmer, a webmaster, a computer system specialist and several kinds of customer service assignments in relation to information technology. The aim of the programme is to provide students with professional skills which help graduates to flexibly develop and specialise themselves further in continuously changing IT-professions. The students can specialise themselves in the following areas: software development, computer systems and networks, digital media and IT-business. Development projects with local software enterprises and other organisations are included in the programme and after two years of theoretical studies the students work as trainees in the field of data processing. During the final year the students complete a Bachelor s thesis, in which the students carry out a research or a development project. Students have also opportunities to take part in international student exchange. School of Business Studies Degree Programme in Business Information Technology Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA Scope of degree: 210 ECTS credits (140 Finnish credits) Duration of studies: 3.5 years Language of instruction: English First enrolment: Autumn 2004 The objective of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology is to educate internationally oriented experts for positions in the areas of software development and software business. Career opportunities are for example: a software analyst, a software designer, a programmer, a product manager and different marketing and customer service assignments in software business. The Degree Programme in Business Information Technology is oriented towards software development and software business, with an emphasis on international business skills and entrepreneurship. The curriculum includes studies in software development, programming, data base management, international interaction and business skills, mathematics, languages etc. The aspects of developing software products are emphasized in the curriculum. Work placement, Bachelor s thesis and various projects are carried out in co-operation with companies and organisations, which have needs for IT-professionals with international skills.
