May 3, 2017 Dear Families, Thank you to Breanna Powell and Zeina Merhi, who coordinated, directed, and spectacularly produced the Mother-Son Jedi experience last Saturday. The competitive spirit of our normally- genteel moms was on display- as was a great deal of fun! Unfortunately, our extended school community has experienced another loss. Mrs. Ubertaccio s mother, Paula Hegarty, passed away this week, following a short illness. I ask that you pray for the Ubertaccio and Hegarty families, at this time of great sadness. I want to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Janice Martin, whose professional expertise we greatly rely on. Several times this year she has seamlessly stepped in for teachers during unexpected periods, maintaining the flow of the class, the teaching in the class, and the learning of our students- no matter what grade. We are fortunate to have a multi-talented, capable substitute teacher of her caliber! Cafeteria Helpers! We are in need of help at lunchtime; your child will love to see you here! If you sign up to help with lunch, and are unable to make it, please find a substitute. See you at Brunch on Sunday! God bless, Mrs. Dailey

This event will feature a wine pull where each buyer will win a bottle of wine in a blind draw. It's a fun and exciting event where everyone wins! All proceeds from our event will be used to support field trips, enrichment programs, new playground equipment and technology for the children of our school. Dear Parents, This summer I will be available for tutoring lower school students, (children entering Kindergarten Grade 4). If you would like your child to continue to work on academic skills throughout the summer or if your child needs support in reading, math or readiness skills and you are looking for a tutor, please contact me at mtremblay@spxschool.org. I have been trained in the Wilson Reading Program. This is a phonics program geared to reinforce phonics and help the struggling reader learn to internalize the mechanics of reading. Reading comprehension, encoding and decoding are some of the skills that will be reinforced. Beginning readers will continue to learn the mechanics of phonics. I will review letter sounds and sight words, as well as play games that will reinforce reading readiness skills. I have also been trained in best practice Math strategies such as Number Sense and Subitizing, to name a few. These approaches help struggling Math students internalize math concepts. I will also reinforce skills and concepts which were taught throughout the school year. Morning sessions will begin Monday, June 27th. I will be tutoring at school for your convenience and my schedule will be flexible. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Maryann Tremblay
