The Championship Program First Practice Aug. 4 First Contest Aug. 28 New Online Requirements For All Sports POSTING SCHEDULES Schools must go online to the AHSAA website Member Section and enter season schedules for all sports by the deadline dates listed below for sports in each quarter. Failure to do so will result in a fine of $100 assessed to the school. Schools should go online and make any changes immediately as they occur. Deadlines for entering schedules: March 1-- fall sports (football, volleyball, cross country, swimming) Sept. 15 --winter sports (wrestling, basketball) Jan 15 -- spring sports (baseball, softball, outdoor track, soccer, golf and tennis) POSTING SCORES Schools are also required to post scores of contests ONLINE immediately following all contests in the regular season (and within 24 hours after regular season tournaments). Results must be posted no later than 30 minutes following a regular season contests. Failure to do so will result in a fine of $25 assessed to the school. In the post-season playoffs, failure to report scores in the same manner will result in a $100 fine assessed to the school. Instructions will be posted on the AHSAA website Member Section. 1. The cross country program provides competition for boys and girls in each of five divisions: 1A-2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A. A student may compete in only one division during the same meet. 2. The distance for boys and girls in all divisions is 5K. 3. Each high school is limited to 10 meets prior to the section meet. Each junior high/middle school is limited to eight meets. 4. A school team and an individual must compete in at least four meets prior to the section meet. 5. All meets will be conducted under National Federation rules. 6. All participants must be eligible under AHSAA rules. 7. All participants in any meet must be accompanied by a faculty member from their school. Special Rules 1. A team must participate in a section qualifying meet in order to be eligible for the state meet. Cross Country 89
2. A school competing in a section meet may enter a maximum of 10 runners in each division in which it enters. 3. A school competing in the state meet may enter a maximum of 10 runners in each division in which it qualifies. 4. Individuals and teams may qualify for the state meet at a section meet. 5. Schools may substitute team members between the section and state meets. 6. The assignment of teams in the starting boxes at the state meet will be based on section winners, runners-up, and third place finishers. 7. Schools that fail to participate in a section meet after submitting entry forms are subject to a monetary fine. Section Qualifying Meets The girls and boys divisions in each class of a section meet will qualify: (a) The top three teams (7-member teams) (b) The top six individuals not on the section rosters of the three qualifying teams SECTION MEET DIRECTOR S RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Complete the entire form, including the qualifying teams and the individual qualifiers. 2. Also fax the section/state entry forms (No. 41) for all teams qualifying for the state meet to Dwayne Key at 256-905-2444 by 5 p.m. Nov. 3. 3.
