Getting Started with envisionmath Common Core Dash Introduction Registration This guide explores envisionmath Common Core Dash and shows how to manage classes and plan lessons. It also explains how to log in, download content, set up a class, and add students to the Student Roster. Before getting started, you should install the Dash and etext for Schools apps on your ipad, register for a Pearson account, and set up your envisionmath classes in SuccessNet. A Pearson account is an account created for several Pearson products, including Dash and mobile etext. This account is separate from your SuccessNet account. To learn more about this process, please read the Registration and Getting Started with Dash guides. Step 1: Log In to Dash To log in to Dash, tap the Dash app. Tap Sign In at the top right to open the sign-in menu. Enter your Pearson user name and password, which are case-sensitive. Then, tap Sign In. Step 2: Import Data from SuccessNet Enter Your SuccessNet Account Information A prompt appears to let you know that your envisionmath class has active data on SuccessNet. To access this data, tap Add. Next, enter your SuccessNet account user name and password. Type in your school s zip code, and tap Sign In. If your SuccessNet account user name and password are not unique to the system, you will be given a prompt to select your school from the drop-down menu. You will need to wait until the system signs you in and downloads your data. 1
The SuccessNet data from your envisionmath class student names, lesson plans, your calendar, and Success Tracker data will be viewable within Dash. Step 3: Download Content Download the Dash content you need to teach the next topic. Select envisionmath Common Core, and tap Download. You can return to this page later to manage and download additional content. Now, tap Download to the right of Table of Contents and Index to make each of the course topics available for download. After the Table of Contents downloads, notice you have access to download the topic that you will use for instruction. You will only need to download the content as you need it. Return to this area to download additional topics for your instruction or to remove previously downloaded topics that you no longer need. After you finish, tap Done. Step 4: View Content To view the content that you downloaded, tap the blue circle. The icons across the top represent a section of content, such as a Topic or a Lesson Overview. The grayed-out icons represent topics that you have not yet downloaded. Tap a Topic icon to view and navigate the lessons. 2
Lesson Overview Tap each Lesson Overview icon to display an overview of the lesson content. Tap each link below to see how envisionmath Common Core Dash supports you as you plan to teach each lesson. Objective Listen and Look For Videos Common Core Focus Link to etext Step 5: View etext The objective gives the purpose of the lesson. The Listen and Look for videos provide essential information to help you prepare for each lesson in a dash. You will identify the Common Core State Standards taught and practiced in the lesson. You will view the standards in context and learn what to expect from student thinking and work. The Common Core Focus section explains the explicit connections within each lesson to the Standards for Mathematical Content and the Standards for Mathematical Practice. The link to the etext allows you to view your Teacher s Edition, which makes planning on the go easy and will save you time. Next, look at how to view the envisionmath Common Core etext on Dash. Tap the image of a student edition page to access and view the etext student edition page. Enter your Pearson user name and password to sign in to the etext for Schools app. Then, tap Sign In to view the etext page you chose in Dash. 3
Step 6: Set Up Classes You will want to create classes and add students to utilize Dash in your classroom. Tap Students at the bottom of the screen. Next, tap the student icon in the top-left corner of the page. Then, tap the plus sign to add a class. Type in a class name, select the start and end time of the class, and tap Done. Tap Done again to finish creating your class. Step 7: Add Students To add students to the class, tap Roster, and then tap the plus sign to add student information. 4
Enter the student s first name, last name, and any additional information about the student. Tap Add/Remove Enrollments to enroll the student in the class. Under Class Enrollment, you can change the color of the student icon or flag the student record. This flag will appear next to the student s name on the class roster and also on the Class page. To add additional students, tap Roster. To add an additional class, tap Class. Roster To return to the class roster page, tap the Roster arrow. You will see a list of all students you have added to the class. From here, you can edit your roster, export student information, e-mail student information to a parent, another teacher, or an administrator, or access individual student records. To view a list of students enrolled in all classes, tap the All Students tab. Capture student observational notes, such as learning level, progress, and behavior. The Dash functionality allows you to easily monitor student progress with point-of-use information at hand.
