ABOUT THE INSTITUTE Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is governed by a Governing Board consisting of 29 members. His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam, the Archbishop of Changanassery is the Patron and spiritual guide of the Institute. As flag bearers of excellence in professional education in South Kerala, 'Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society' was given birth, by the initiative of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Kurinjiparampil and Mr. Babu Jose K. with the encouragement and association of a few Syrian Catholic Parishoners in Thiruvananthapuram, who have left indelible imprints in the segment of education and with the blessings and patronage of His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Archbishop of Changanacherry. Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology established by the 'Lourdes Matha Catholic Educational Society' has been approved by the Govt. of Kerala and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) vide order No: 06/06/KER/HMCT/2004/001 dated 11/05/2004 and affiliated to the University of Kerala. The College has a spacious campus of 25 acres, at Kuttichal, a rustic village in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, hardly 24 km away from it. The scenic beauty and virgin surroundings of the picturesque lush green rubber plantations in the back drop of misty Western Ghats and the serene, tranquil hillock provides a perfect environment for harmonious study. DIRECTOR Prof. P.M Hormese Prof. P.M Hormese is an excellent Professional Engineer and is well known in the academic and in the engineering faculty fraternity. He is a product of College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He entered in the teaching profession in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam and later joined CET as teacher and retired as Professor from CET. Since then he joined Sree Chithira Thirunal College of Engineering where he worked as Professor, Principal and also as Professor Emeritus. He has made an impact in the field of teaching and also in directly dealing with the problems of students and staff. Mr. Ranjith Pillai is a graduate in Economics and the holder of a Diploma in hotel management from IHM Chennai. His interest in foreign languages led him to acquire an advanced Diploma in French from L Alliance Francaise, Chennai. With nearly three decades of experience in the hospitality industry as an academician and an HR & Training Manager, he understands well the keys to the success of a Hospitality College and also how to meet the dynamic demands of the hospitality industry on the human resource. Having worked with luxury hotel chains like the Taj, Leela and the Lalit group of hotels, his professional experience comes in handy in developing students as per industry norms. Rules and Regulations: 1. Cancellation of seat for BHMCT if any may close with in 30 days of admission, and in no case any fee will be refunded after this time period. 2. Student will be liable to pay tuition fee for minimum two years, if the admission is to be cancelled after University Registration. 3. Students must refrains from contacting any media including press for any reasons what so ever, without prior permission of the Principal. 4. A minimum of 75% attendance is required to be eligible to appear for University Semester Examination. 5. Internal marks are awarded based on continuous evaluation of students performance in internal exams, assignment and attendance. 6. Parents / Guardian may keep regular contact with the college with regard to the progress of their ward. 7. Use of mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the College Campus. 8. Possession and use of tobacco / tobacco products / alcohol and any other drugs in the Campus is strictly banned. 9. The Principal is the final authority for decision making in academic and non - academic matters. 10. Students must strictly adhere to class Timings, Uniform and Grooming Standards and code of Conduct as prescribed by the college. HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION: Hostel accommodation will be given for boys and girls inside the campus. Hostel accommodation is limited, allocation of seats is on a first-cum-first serve basis. Essential furniture such as bed, mattress, study table, chair and cupboard is provided for each individual in St. Thomas Boys hostel and Assisi Girls hostel run by Reverend Priests and Sisters respectively.
PROHIBITION OF RAGGING Ragging in any type or misconduct towards any student either in the College campus, hostel, and College bus or outside will be considered as criminal offence and will be immediately reported to the police. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies in the college. The institute gives due importance to prevent ragging in the campus and is always under the surveillance of the anti-ragging committee. The committee shall review the anti ragging measures taken by the college, make modifications /improvements required if any and oversee the implementation. The anti ragging squad in the college functions under the guidance of the anti ragging committee. Admission Procedure The prospectus and application form for the BHMCT Degree Course can be obtained from the college office at Kuttichal, LMCES city office, Lourdes Church, PMG, Thiruvananthapuram and Regional Office at Changanacherry by remitting cash or by sending a Demand Draft of Rs 500, favoring The Principal, 'Lourdes Matha Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology' payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Eligibility Students below 22 years of age, with a pass in Plus Two or equivalent with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks are eligible for admission. SC/ST Candidates need minimum 40% of marks. The candidate have to appear for an entrance test conducted by the University of Kerala for getting admission to merit seats or by LMIHMCT for getting admission to management seats. The candidates qualifying the test will be called for a group discussion and a personal interview to assess the candidate's communication skill, personality and the suitability for a managerial career.
