Special Olympics Louisiana expressed their gratitude to the plungers, the men and women of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, and Sheriff Gautreaux for EBRSO's help in raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Louisiana. Special thanks to all that participated in this years plunge.

DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH Rikkie Ruffin, Criminal Records, has been named the Administrative and Support Services Deputy of the Month. Ms. Ruffin was hired in August of 2013 in the Criminal Records Division. In her short time here she has excelled in her duties and has shown the initiative to learn others. She has just completed training for another employee and during this training has shown great knowledge, patience, and professionalism. Rikkie is a great asset to Criminal Records and the EBRSO. Deputy Shannon Broussard, Burbank Substation, has been named the Uniform Patrol Deputy of the Month. Deputy Broussard was hired by the EBRSO in February of 2004 in Corrections and found his way to Uniform Patrol in 2006. Deputy Broussard was dispatched to Burbank Drive in search of a suspicious male at an apartment complex. The male was located and booked on 44 charges, including 26 burglary charges. The suspect has been linked to several robberies and after further investigation, may be booked on additional charges through the BRPD. Tiffiny Miller, Foreclosure Division, has been named the Civil Deputy of the Month. Mrs. Miller was hired in September of 2007 in the Civil Division and has remained faithful ever since. Tiffiny always works efficiently and is always available to lend a helping hand to her coworkers, even if it is out of her scope of responsibilities. Tiffiny is committed to working hard to satisfy the needs and concerns of the Foreclosure Division and is a great asset to the EBRSO. Corporal Brian Stewart, Narcotics, has been named the Detective of the Month. Corporal Stewart is currently assigned to the newly formed Tactical Diversion Squad of the DEA and recently led an investigation into the illegal diversion of prescription drugs in the Baton Rouge, Iberville, and Ascension areas. Following months of investigation, Corporal Stewart was able to uncover a sophisticated prescription fraud operation based inside a local medical clinic. The investigation resulted in five arrests and multiple search warrants with other arrests possible. Based on pharmaceutical records, detectives determined that the accused sold, distributed, traded or used drugs with a street value of $1,379,595.00. Deputy Garrick Scott, Parish Prison, has been named the Corrections Deputy of the Month. Deputy Garrick was hired by the EBRSO in June of 2010 in Corrections. Deputy Scott maintains a professional demeanor at all times, whether it is while working in the medical department, his current assignment on M&N or reporting for the Team Rep Meetings. He also plays a major role in keeping accountability of equipment and inmates leaving from M&N for call-outs of inmates from Unit III. While being the consummate team player, Deputy Scott encourages others to become better deputies. He also displays good leadership qualities and decision-making skills that make him an asset to the Parish Prison.
