Adv Tech 2012-13 Aviation Academy - FT #2 Rewrite Training Course Outline Summary: Rewrite our Part 141 Training Course Outlines to reflect a newer fleet with different aircraft. Description Students would no longer train in 2-seaters, then simple 4-seaters, complex 4-seaters, and the multi-engine. All early training would be in one kind of aircraft. This would most likely be Cessna 172s. At the end of their Professional Pilot Course, students would transition to the complex, multi-engine aircraft and receive their Multi-Engine Commercial license upon completion. Questions and Answers How is the initiative linked to the Unit Plans most recently submitted? 1. How does it continue the achievement of those goals? 2. If this is a continuation of an initiative started last year, make sure that relationship is clear. How is this initiative linked to the efficiencies and productivities plans you had last year? 1. How does it continue the achievement of these plans? 2. If this is a continuation of an efficiency or productivity plan started last year, make sure that relationship is clear. This is our current Unit Plan item #2. It is dependent upon our #1 initiative. We began to plan for aircraft replacement last year, and this is a quantum leap on that direction. Describe the resources needed: Curriculum Development 70 hours of curriculum development ($30 each) Request: Curriculum Development $2,100 What specific measurable program outcomes do you expect to achieve with this initiative? The outcomes should be specific enough to be measurable. Also, outline the method that will be used to determine the results. Students will learn in aircraft with modern instrument panels, and complete their program with a Multi-engine Certification, making them more hirable. The certification and ratings the students earn will be the measure of success. Department Priority: 14 Unit Resources:

There are no unit resources available. Funding Request: Carl Perkins Is this a Career & Technical Education program approved by the state and offered through Lane for credit? If not a Career & Technical Education program, does your request provide considerable support for students enrolled in these programs? Do you have an advisory committee that meets 2-3 times per year? If request is for personnel, will funds be used to replace an existing position? How will funding this initiative increase or sustain the academic achievement and technical skills attainment (GPA of 2.0 or better) of Career and Technical Education students? 1) Train students in more modern glass-panel aircraft. 2) Enhance our ability to maintain our excellent safety record by replacing worn-out aircraft 3) Make our graduates more hirable upon completion at Lane. How will funding this initiative increase or sustain the number of CTE students that graduate or receive a one year certificate from Lane and help prepare the students for employment? This new curriculum and the aircraft in which it will be used, return Flight Tech to vitality and full sustainability. We are not currently sustainable with our worn-out fleet and aged curriculum. Students will graduate much better prepared to be hired in the current state of the aviation industry.
