In general, exams cannot be shifted, changed, or repeated! 4

Make or check your module selection if excel file has been submitted: check entries in PAUL if no excel file has been submitted: use second registration phase 2. Refine or add courses via PAUL (see below) The second registration phase will take place from 04.04. 22.04.2016 Use the chance to go to lectures, talk to Professors. Check the time table and complete your module selection. 5
1 General Information To be done before the lectures start Attention: Some courses have limited places and a waiting list Students who have submitted the excel file and selected the course will - if ever possible - be able to participate Students who have not submitted the excel file or did not select the module will have to apply via PAUL If waiting lists exist, they will be published in the students section of the Faculty s homepage (ask your buddy where to find it) If the module is closed, PAUL will refuse application and state that some conditions for enrollment are not met. 6

Make a selection. Contact your home advisor to ask for acceptance and credit transfer. 4. For Erasmus students i. Check your Learning Agreement. ii. iii. Contact your home advisor if changes are necessary. Prepare a Changes Agreement and go to Academic Advisor for signature. 7

Team up as a group of students, split-up, and exchange lecture notes. Your personal time table will show up in PAUL - but only after the second registration phase is over (!!) 6. 1 General Information To be done before the lectures start Finally and very important: If you want to deregister De-registration from modules is possible until one week before the first module examination takes place The module specific deadlines for de-registration are published on the Faculty s webpage (student section). 2 Available Modules What is important to know about modules? There are two important sources of information on available modules 1. The module catalogues ( Modulkataloge ) the most recent and accurate list of modules. Go to http://wiwi.uni-paderborn.de/studium/orga/module/modulkatalog/ and choose Courses in English available for exchange students 2. The module manual ( Modulhandbuch ) it will appear when clicking on a modules name in the catalogues it contains all relevant module details (Syllabus) 16

2 Available Modules Course ID System of the Faculty Each module has a 4-digit number with W as prefix Courses within modules are numbered sequentially, e.g. -01, -02, Example: W2411-01 First digit: 1 = Bachelor level 1st year 2,3 = Bachelor level 2nd and 3rd year 4,5 = Master level (also open for visiting bachelor students) 6 = PhD level 18

2 Available Modules Erasmus+ Learning Agreements Important to Note (for Erasmus Students only) Learning Agreements must be kept as complete set at any time (do not hand in single pages for signature, etc.) Header must include your name on each page For approval and changes: Come to the Office for International Affairs or academic advisor to get signature and stamp Learning Agreement will then be submitted as PDF by E-Mail to International Office at UPB 24

3 Course Registration, Examination and Approval Course Registration To register for a module you have to access the campus management system PAUL: https://paul.uni-paderborn.de PAUL contains the whole electronic course catalogue of the University of Paderborn, grouped according to semesters and faculties. it does not provide information as detailed as the module manual It may sometimes misreport the language of courses falsely as German An IMT account is required to login (IMT username and password)! 26

3 Course Registration, Examination and Approval Attention: You are not allowed to select more than 45 ECTS. So be careful. When going beyond 45 ECTS, you will automatically be deregistered for the last modules selected Attention: No examination will be possible without registration in PAUL 36
3 Course Registration, Examination and Approval Enrollment and Examination Examinations can be of different forms and take place at different times! Types and weights of examinations are given in the module manual Many modules have final exams which will take part in July or even August! The dates of examination will be published on the faculty s web page as of mid June. Ask your buddy where to find it If you are not present at the time of an exam you will normally fail (!!) Attention: Module examinations cannot be retaken, upgraded or shifted 37
3 Course Registration, Examination and Approval Approval The International Office will submit your grades and the number of ECTS earned to your home University. Within first weeks of the semester the International Office may ask you to submit the list of classes you take. After having passed the exams, the International Office will take care of submitting the results to your home University Attention Your transcript of records will include all modules you registered for, even those marked as failed! 38

4 Additional Resources koala koala is the most important course management platform used at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. It is closely linked to PAUL. In order to access koala you have to log in with your IMT-Account. http://koala.upb.de/ 40

4 Additional Resources eseminarapparat An eseminarapparat (electronic library) is a course related resource to supply lecture notes and course related material. All electronic libraries are hosted at the University Library, but they relate to single modules and are managed by the respective module coordinator.
