TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program and Assessment Information Program Information This section provides some general information about the program. Attendance You are expected to attend and participate in each scheduled webinar. if you are unable to attend you must advise the relevant person (this will be provided at the first webinar) before the start of the webinar. The face to face assessment days are compulsory. You must be available for all days. Webinars There are eleven 2-hour webinars with online self-paced activities in between. The schedule of dates is provided in the Participant information and Program Outline. Webinars will begin and end on time. Participants must log in at least 15 minutes before the start time of each webinar. Self paced online work The self paced learning activities in between each webinar prepare you for the topics that will be covered in the following webinar. These activities are explained in the Participant information and Program Outline. A review of the activities will start each webinar. You will have the opportunity to ask questions or to bring up any issues you might have had completing the activities. Assistance and support If you require any assistance or support during the program there are a number of ways to access help. For example: The Help forum for general questions or comments about the learning activities, assessment tasks etc. The Registered Training Organisation (RTO) if you have any questions about your enrolment, administrative issues etc The lead trainer can answer specific questions about the webinar topics, learning activities etc. The assessor who can answer questions about individual assessment tasks etc. At the first webinar you will advised which person to contact and the best way to contact them. Program and Assessment Information TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment The assessment process The flow chart below summarises how each assessment task of TAE50210 Diploma of Training Design and Development is administered: 1. Complete all the steps as required in the task. 2. Create a file name as directed in the instructions and upload the task or give the evidence as directed to the assessor. Keep a copy. 3. Your assessor will briefly look through the task to ensure that: a. all steps have been completed b. your task is logically organised and clearly presented. If the task IS well organised If the task IS NOT well organised 4. Your assessor will review and evaluate the evidence provided in your completed task. If all evidence is of a SATISFACTORY standard If any evidence is of a NOT YET SATISFACTORY standard The assessment result is Satisfactory for that task The assessment result is Not Yet Satisfactory In this case, you have to opportunity to resubmit, support from the assessor is available. 5. Your assessor will provide a written response that includes an assessment result, detailed feedback, and /or recommended action plan to improve the quality of the task or achieve a satisfactory result. 6. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program and Assessment Information Frequently asked questions What if I can't attend a webinar? Each webinar will be recorded so you can access the presentation after the conclusion of the webinar. If you cannot attend, you must inform the appropriate person. If you require a link to the recording please contact Ann Brady and request a copy. What if I have questions or need assistance in between webinars? At the first webinar you will be advised who to contact depending on whether your question relates to the RTO, attendance, learning activities, assessment tasks etc. What is my assessment deadline? You will be advised of the due date for each assessment task. This information will be provided in the Program Outline and reminders will be provided during the webinars. How do I submit my completed assessment tasks? The steps for submitting your assessment tasks are included in the instructions for each task. Generally you will be asked to either upload your work or to hand it directly to the assessor if you are assessed in a face to face environment. What if I can t submit my completed assessment tasks by the deadline? If you are unable to submit your work by the due date you must advise the lead trainer as soon as possible. An extension request must be made in writing and no later than one week prior to the due date. Each request will be dealt with individually and no more than two extensions can be granted for any assessment task. I m not sure I can complete the assessment tasks as described. What are my options? We can negotiate a flexible option. If it would help make the assessment more accessible to you, we re happy to make a reasonable adjustment to the assessment process. We can t compromise the quality of the assessment, though. Please discuss your options with your lead trainer. Will my assessment records be kept confidential? Yes! Assessment records are stored securely, and won t be shared with anyone who is not authorised to view them. The only possible assessment results you can get are: Result Code What this result means Competent C Celebrate! You have earned a statement of attainment for each unit/s of competency assessed. Satisfactory S Good. You have successfully completed the task. Not yet satisfactory NYS There are two possible reasons for a NYS result: The evidence you submitted was of a satisfactory standard, but not all the required evidence was submitted (in this case, all you need to do is submit the remaining required evidence) The evidence you submitted was not of a satisfactory standard. If you attain a NYS result, your assessor will advise you on the steps needed to achieve a satisfactory result. PLEASE NOTE: you have two opportunities to resubmit your work. If you are still not yet satisfactory then we can offer one to one support which will incur an additional fee. Will I get my evidence returned to me once the assessment tasks have been completed? No, you will receive feedback on your work, a result and either statements of attainment for the completed unit/s of competency or a qualification. We advise you to keep a copy of your work and any feedback received. What if I disagree with the assessment result? If you disagree with your assessment result, you have the right to appeal the decision. Please follow the process listed below: 1. Discuss your concerns with your assessor. If you don t arrive at a mutually beneficial solution 2. Contact Kiama Community College. We ll help you get started with your formal appeal. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program and Assessment Information Assessment tasks at a glance This section provides a list of all assessment tasks to be completed throughout the program. Clustering The assessment tasks are divided into four broad areas of focus, called clusters. They are: 1. Review cluster this cluster covers knowledge requirements of Stage 1 of eskilling the SES 2. LLN cluster this cluster covers skills and knowledge requirements of the Australian Core Skills Framework and the elective unit of competency TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills. 3. Design and develop cluster this cluster covers skills and knowledge needed to design and implement an e-learning strategy to support both learner and organisational requirements; and develop print-based resources for use in implementation. 4. Training/mentoring cluster this cluster covers skills and knowledge needed to plan and facilitate individual e-mentoring and/or group e-learning 5. Assessment cluster this cluster covers skills and knowledge needed to design, develop and review assessment tools. When you ll be assessed You ll be assessed: progressively throughout the webinar series, and at towards the end of the webinar series (as part of a two-day face-to-face weekend workshop). Submitting my completed assessment tasks When you have completed an assessment task please follow the instructions provided regarding the naming convention for files and documents. If you are asked to resubmit, please complete these steps: highlight what is different in the resubmitted work, and rename the document and version starting with the word Resubmit. E.g. Tasks relevant to the Review cluster are listed in purple font. Tasks relevant to the LLN cluster are listed in blue font* Tasks relevant to the Design and Develop cluster are listed in orange font. Tasks relevant to the Training/Mentoring cluster are listed in pink font. Tasks relevant to the Assessment cluster are listed in green font. *Note that some components of the LLN assessment are integrated across other tasks. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program and Assessment Information Assessment Task Summary Task 7: Short answer questions stage 1 You will be answering 20 questions which relate to the required knowledge for the 5 units of competency from Stage 1. To complete this task, you ll need to refer to the activities and assessment tasks covered in Stage 1. The questions will provide links to relevant sections of the program. For a satisfactory result in this task, all questions must be answered to a satisfactory standard. At Diploma level this means that: you can answer using complete sentences or using dot points, making direct reference to the question you specifically address all parts of the question you use your own words when occasionally quoting directly from another source of information, acknowledge that source your answers are about one third to half a page long this is an average only; some questions will require longer answers, some shorter. Task 8: Design and conduct an organisational training needs analysis This task involves designing, conducting, documenting and presenting ONE organisational Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify the training needs of SES members who: may be new to Moodle or online learning generally. The TNA may expand upon your work in Task 3A of Stage 1 of eskilling the SES, OR may be interested in becoming e-facilitators, OR may be interested in becoming e-assessors Your TNA must include at least TWO people who may require some LLN support and use the Australian Core Skills Framework to determine their LLN level. It should also include but is not limited to: organisational requirements target audience learning and training needs any other relevant information. recommendations and options for the organisation review of feedback and comments from the organisation. Program and Assessment Information TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Task 9: Analysing LLN support needs This task involves analysing THREE student profiles and mapping your findings against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). You will be provided with the profiles and a copy of the ACSF to complete this task. You will identify gaps and prepare appropriate questions to determine the LLN support needs. You will then identify a local source of LLN support with whom to consult from within the NSW SES or from outside the organisation. Task 10: Design and Develop a Learning Strategy This task involves the design and development of ONE competency-based learning strategy which meets the needs identified in your TNA in Task 8 including: how you will address specific LLN needs for at least one learner meets the requirements of the unit of competency, qualification and training package uses learning theories and instructional design principles incorporates a review process designed in consultation with relevant stakeholders. A template will be provided to document your learning strategy. Task 11: Design and Develop a Learning Resource This task involves the design and development of ONE print-based resource to support your learning strategy. Resources must: be developed in consultation with all stakeholders conform to SES style guide o use consistent fonts and formatting o use SES colours o be well layed-out and easy to read be written in plain English and provide clear instructions provide LLN support identified in your TNA and learning strategy be trialled and reviewed. Learning resources might include but are not limited to: instructional guides for learners, facilitators or assessors Powerpoint presentations learning activities e.g. case studies, scenarios, quizzes handouts etc. The original and the post-review document will be required. 12 Version 1.0 Nov 2012 Adapted with permission for use with the NSW SES Blackwater Projects

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Program and Assessment Information Task 12: Implement and Review a Learning Strategy The purpose of this task is to implement and review your learning strategy and print-based resource in your region with an individual or small group. At least ONE learner must require LLN support. Evidence of implementation will be required for example: attendance sheet completed student work an observer checklist student feedback A written review including feedback from all stakeholders is required (2 pages) along with evidence of participation and feedback Task 13: Conduct a second TNA and design and develop a second learning strategy This task involves: designing, conducting, documenting and presenting a SECOND organisational Training Needs Analysis, and designing and developing a SECOND learning strategy which meets the needs identified in your TNA. This task follows the guidelines provided above in Tasks 8 and 10. The TNA must be undertaken using a different methodology and have a different e- focus to the TNA completed in Task 8. Task 14: Short answer questions design and develop You will be answering 10 questions which cover the required knowledge for the units of competency covered in Tasks 9-13. You may refer to your workbook or other online resources. You may not collaborate with your colleagues. For the requirements for satisfactory completion see about Task 7. Task 15: Design and develop assessment instruments This task involves the design and development of TWO assessment instruments addressing the requirements of three units of competency at different AQF levels. The focus of this task will be to develop assessment instruments which support the implementation of e-learning within the SES. Appropriate units of competency will be provided.
