Nomination Process Students must be nominated by the international office of the home university. Application documents should be sent it by email, in one.pdf file for each student to the Exchange Programs Coordination email: intercambio-dri@usb.ve. Academic Information General Information Academic Structure Spanish Courses The internship program and thesis courses could be covered during the exchange program. The USB grading scale is from (1) to (5), (5) being the highest score and (3) the minimum approval score. Full time study corresponds to an average of 12-15 academic credits per trimester. Exchange students whose first language is not Spanish are advised to take Spanish like foreign language course. 5 years: Under Degree Programs (Engineering and Bachelor Degree) 5 + 1 year: Specialization 5 + 2 years: Masters 5 + 4 years: Doctorate Language Department offer to international exchange students, Spanish like foreign language courses in different levels. Students must request previous arrive to USB take this subject indicating in the study plan of the application form. Practical Information for Students Arrival Dates Airport City Transportation Accommodation Tuition fees Information regarding other expenses International Medical Insurance Visa University Services Arrivals dates of each period for international exchange students will be announced by International Relations and Cooperation Office with the acceptance letter. Individual Airport pickup is available for international exchange students upon arrival with a taxi services. Students must to pay this service directly to the driver when they arrive to accommodation place. Taxi service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and must be coordinate by the student, before arrival, with the International Relations and Cooperation Office, writing an email to: intercambio-dri@usb.ve The University does not have student accommodation in the Campus, but the International Relations and Cooperation Office provide advice for finding accommodation in the city in host family s houses. Depending on availability, it could be on a single or double room with or without other international exchange student. Rates for individual room: Bs. 10.000 Bs. 15.000 aprox. Rates for double room: (shared): Bs. 7.000 Bs. 10.000 aprox. Refer to the bilateral / multilateral agreement General Rule: Exchange students do not pay fees at Universidad Simón Bolívar The monthly cost for food is estimated to be Bs. 3000 Bs. 4000 aprox. Books, copies, transportation and other expenses are estimated to be Bs. 1500-3000 Bs. aprox. Mandatory for all international exchange students when they arrive to Venezuela. International Relations and Cooperation Office send to the international exchange student, an official letter for the Venezuela s Embassy/Consulate nearest of the city of the student, with the acceptance letter. Venezuelan Student Visa is expended maximum for one year in the country. If the exchange student will be more than a year in the country, he/she must to request an extension of Student Visa in the Migration Service (SAIME).
