This informational booklet outlines the benefits of your Future Educators Association membership, including Go Teach magazine, scholarships, national competitions, and leadership opportunities. Mission The mission of FEA is to foster the recruitment and development of prospective educators worldwide through the dissemination of innovative programming and relevant research. Vision By elevating the image of teaching, FEA will attract dynamic and diverse students who will become tomorrow s great educators.
Go Teach Go Teach is the official FEA magazine and is dedicated to presenting information about education careers and getting ready for college in a fun, engaging, and professional format. Go Teach aims to elevate the image of the teaching profession by exploring new ways to teach and learn in the 21st century. It helps to ensure that future educators will begin their careers with the skills and experiences they need to change lives. Go Teach is published four times a year and mailed to all FEA members. Selected articles from each issue are published online at www.goteachmag.org. You can also use Go Teach articles in your classroom. We will also share fun and informative resources like tidbits of FEA history, photos from FEA events, and education-related posts from other organizations. Online Resources Log in to the members-only section of the FEA website to add your students information and ensure they receive every issue of Go Teach. After you log in, you will also find other important resources and helpful materials. Update Your Contact Information Do you have a new email address? Did the primary advisor/instructor of your FEA chapter change? You can update all of this information 24/7 when it s most convenient for you! Just log in and click Update Chapter Profile. List Your Students as Official FEA Members At the beginning of each school year, FEA advisors must renew their affiliation with FEA by logging in to the secure section of the FEA website to confirm their chapter s information and to enter their students names, contact information, and demographic data. This process generates an invoice, allowing you to renew your chapter s affiliation with FEA and register your students as official FEA members. Providing your students information will ensure your students receive all of their FEA membership benefits, including Go Teach and information about scholarships, national competitions, and the National Student Officers Program. Access Advisor/Instructor Resources The members-only section of the website also gives you access to helpful materials, including: FEA activity ideas, including real-life examples from FEA programs; Downloadable FEA logos; Member-recruitment materials; FEA Handbook for Chapter Advisors, 7th edition (PDF); and Publications relevant to your work, including articles from the mostcited magazine in education, Phi Delta Kappan. FEA Honor Society We recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of FEA s highestachieving members through the FEA Honor Society. Eligibility is determined by academic achievement. FEA Honor Society students are recognized by the international office, as well as their local chapters. FEA provides a variety of Honor Society merchandise, including honor cords and stoles, at www.feastore.org. This is a great way for your students to proudly display their academic achievements and get the recognition they deserve. The deadline to submit student names for FEA Honor Society is March 2. FEA National Student Officers Program One way FEA helps students develop the strong leadership traits found in high-quality educators is through the FEA National Student Officers Program. These elected student leaders represent FEA throughout the year at various local, state, and national functions; write for Go Teach and other prominent education publications; and collaborate with FEA advisors and students to ensure FEA members have a voice in program development. FEA National Conference Don t miss the 26th Annual FEA National Conference! This year s conference will be held April 23 26, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, just outside of Washington, D.C. All FEA members in good standing can participate in this action-packed weekend filled with networking opportunities, competitive events, and leadership development activities for students interested in education-related careers. Conference registration opens Nov. 3, with early bird registration running through March 23, 2015. For details on how to register for this year s conference and enter national competitions, visit the FEA website at www.feaconference.org. FEA National Competitions FEA competitions offer developing educators exciting, authentic opportunities to measure their creativity, skills, and initiative against high standards and their peers from across the country. The final rounds for each competition take place on-site at the FEA National Conference on April 23-25, 2015. This year, FEA is offering 19 competitions for high school and middle school students, and 3 for higher education students. The deadline to register and submit entries for national competitions is March 16, 2015. Scholarships Through affiliation with the PDK family of associations, FEA student members are eligible to apply for more than 30 Prospective Educator Scholarships offered through the PDK Educational Foundation.
