Where minds collide U-Collaborate Sparking real breakthroughs and powerful outcomes. Fast.

[To [sparkorate] Verb The collective to ignite powerful, noun for people who collaborate to spark change. outcome-focussed collaboration in very accelerated timescales Collaborate here

Where minds collide Our mission Accelerate your thinking Achieve breakthroughs Align stakeholders We believe that in today s world, to solve complex business issues and to spark real change, you need to think and work differently. Traditional change approaches often don t take you far enough, quickly enough. The key is outcomefocussed collaboration. For us, collaboration is a philosophy. We have found a way to codify it and make it real. To succeed, you need a robust, innovative approach, the right people and a stimulating environment that generates brilliant ideas that can be implemented in reality. U-Collaborate is where this happens day to day in KPMG. It is an innovative capability that combines problem solving expertise and powerful SME insights with a bespoke collaboration environment designed to deliver profound results which drive real performance. Put simply, U-Collaborate delivers powerful experiences often in the form of events that are typically embedded at critical points within large complex change programmes. These events are designed to drive acceleration, genuine breakthroughs and real ownership of solutions as they are co-created by the group of participants. Our mission in U-Collaborate is to provide space for the imagination, a platform, a moment in time, a spark to help you cut through your challenges. We can help to find a solution for you that really works 1-3 day event 20-120 people 3 2016 KPMG LLP, a UK limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ( KPMG International ), a Swiss entity. That Eureka! moment When should you use the U-Collaborate capability and approach? Working with U-Collaborate will challenge you and often take your team in directions you hadn t considered before. Before we start to create sparks together, it s important to define when exactly you really need us. You should speak to us if you need to rapidly accelerate change and want an approach that has a track record of getting results. Or maybe you need to generate a genuine light bulb or breakthrough moment to fundamentally change your business for the better? In these scenarios, U-Collaborate is a great place to start. We always begin by thoroughly understanding the issue up front. We proactively explore the complexity of the challenge before sparking your collective imaginations to create transformational, innovative solutions. What can U-Collaborate give you? It has probably been the best two days I ve had working all year. What we have achieved is inspiring. We ve cracked thorny problems in the space of two days stuff we ve been debating all year. I find that incredible. Chief Innovation Officer McLaren Applied Technologies Powerful, co-created outcomes around which participants are genuinely bought in and engaged Breakthroughs that have proved impossible before Achieve more than you can imagine, in a short space of time Implementable solutions created in the real world (rather than a theoretical document that sits on a shelf) Ownership and commitment from participants to deliver results after the event 5 2016 KPMG LLP, a UK limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ( KPMG International ), a Swiss entity. Supercharged Outcomes Our approach to collaboration Complexity in business can often stem from the need to tackle a combination of political rational and emotional elements. These elements often exist across broad stakeholder groups and at the same time, span the strategic through to the tactical. To address this complexity, we work through problems from multiple perspectives and take a non-linear approach, driving you to think differently and to create deeper connections with ideas and solutions. Our approach is founded on design theory, systems thinking and engineering concepts. Rooting our method in these approaches and blending them with powerful change management helps to ensure that we help you achieve exceptional results. What often takes months to achieve, we can do in days. U-Collaborate enables you to rapidly create potential solutions and then help to ensure that they work in your unique, strategic and business environment. Our meticulous design and planning for each event starts by helping you challenge the conventional view of your business problem. Whatever your starting point, we will help you get to a position where you are ready to spark change. 7 2016 KPMG LLP, a UK limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ( KPMG International ), a Swiss entity. Sparking success: The U-Collaborate Journey Event Scoping and Design A U-Collaborate event is underpinned by meticulous planning and preparation. We work with you to understand and define precisely what your challenge is, then create a bespoke framework to most effectively address it. Key to success is the forming of an event sponsor group who meet with us regularly (typically weekly for 90 minutes 2 hours) in the 4-6 week period leading up to an event. 5-6 weeks prior 6 weeks prior to the event, we identify key sponsors, and make a decision with you as to whether a U-Collaborate event is right for your business. This is a consultative process. If we don t feel you would benefit, we ll tell you. Once confirmed, we start by shaping and agreeing event objectives and outcomes with the sponsor group to maximise the value we can achieve together. We also focus on who we need to participate to meet our objectives and ensure the time is held in their diaries. 3-4 weeks prior Here we are focussed on an iterative design process of the event itself, working with the sponsor group to shape the right modules to achieve our event aims. We also agree the inputs required for the event and identify who is going to create them. 1-2 weeks prior This is the period during which we finalise the event design, review event inputs, brief and rehearse all contributors to the event and start to draft the assignments for the event. 8 2016 KPMG LLP, a UK limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ( KPMG International ), a Swiss entity. 1 day after Outputs captured from the event are converted into a comprehensive event journal and sent to the event sponsors for review. All materials and photographs from the event are archived for future reference. 6 weeks after It s important that momentum after the event is maintained. We check in with our sponsors 4 6 weeks after the session to reflect on how the work from the event has progressed and complete a debrief. The Event Itself The event itself is deliberately designed to be non-linear. We drive you to look at the issue from multiple perspectives, through different lenses. To make emotional as well as logical connections. Creating moments of insights. Sparking ideas and defining real solutions. 1 day prior The is the event prep day during which we hold a 2 hour sponsor walkthrough session to make any final adjustments to the design and ensure all the event inputs are right. The environment is created and all materials printed and staged ready for the session. 9 2016 KPMG LLP, a UK limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative ( KPMG International ), a Swiss entity.
