1. Coaching and Training The Youth training schedule for season 2016-17 can be found on our Club website under the Youth Academy section. It is very important that your son arrives 15 minutes before his session is due to commence. He needs to make sure he is suitably dressed for the weather and that he brings his shin pads with him for every training session. When Academy players enter and leave the stadium; they will arrive via the main stairs at Reception and exit to training via the main stand entrance. The tunnel is prohibited to ALL unless they are visiting the physiotherapist. Training kit or any other items MUST no longer be left in the dugouts and instead should be left in the changing rooms around the corner of the stadium. For those accessing Sports Science, please note Kevin Symon will now collect players from the changing rooms and escort them to the Gym area. Can we ask that when you bring your son to
2. Sports Medicine and Science We have a team of Medical and Sports Science staff working within the Youth Academy. The Medical and Sports Science Department is headed up by Victoria McIntyre who is responsible for all Medical and Sports Science matters from Junior Academy to under 17 level. F From a Physiotherapy perspective, the Youth Academy has numerous fully qualified staff and final year students covering evening clinics and match-days It is important that parents are kept informed of their son s progress when injured, so we encourage parents to speak to the Physiotherapy staff about any aspects of medical care. In terms of Sports Science, the Youth Academy has Club Sports Scientist Kevin Symon implementing up to date Sports Science methods which should enhance your son s Academy football career. Kevin s role will be to run regular tests on the players strength, power, speed, agility and endurance. From the tests results, your son s physical development will be able to be monitored more closely and, importantly, more individual based training can be administered to improve on potential weaknesses. As with the medical care, it is important that parents are kept informed of their son s developmental progress so we encourage parents to speak to the Sports Science staff about any aspects of Sports Science care. Throughout the season, the Medical and Sports Science Department will provide parents and players with educational information (through talks, newsletters, etc) regarding basic injury treatment and prevention, nutrition and exercise. As part of our players development, nutrition is vital and to this end we are delighted to share with you that we now have in-house additional resource of a club Food Nutritionist and a workshop will be held for parents and players on Monday and Wednesday 12th & 14th September from 6pm 7.30pm your attendance is appreciated.
3. Fundraising We would like to remind you that we rely on donations/support to keep our elite Academy running and funds raised from scratch cards etc are necessary to support our financial remit, so please regularly share these with family and friends to give us your support. Thanks to Academy Mum, Lorraine Wilson for setting up Easy Fundraising; since December we raised over 120 for those using the code when shopping online. An email regarding this will be sent to all parents but is a convenient way to help you join in our fundraising efforts. This year our Youth Academy along with the children s charity Blameless have been chosen beneficiaries to receive profits from the spectacular Scot Ball, Crowne Plaza, Glasgow on Saturday 29th October and we hope to have a attendance from as 4. 1st Team Games We encourage Academy Players attendance at all home games and have secured tickets to allow our players and their families to support the Team. Please make sure that when the young Players attend for the 1st Team games they wear their travel suit and polo shirt. In addition our U 11 s have the opportunity on a rotational basis to be chosen as our ball boys, which is a great experience. Remember to purchase some 50/50 tickets at our games, profit is split between our Academy and the winner!! More Than A Football Club
