High School Sports Our Sr. High students participate in the Small School Bridge League (SSBL). Our teams compete against Contra Costa Christian, Summerfield Waldorf, Orinda Academy, Oakland Military Institute, El Sobrante Christian, Archbishop Hanna, California School for the Deaf, Chinese Christian, Pleasant Hill Adventist, Fremont Christian, Napa Christian, Emery, Marin School, and Berean Christian, as well as a number of other nonleague schools within the North Coast Section. Our Varsity Girls Volleyball team made school history in 2008 by making the North Coast Section Playoffs for the first time. The goal of our athletic program is that every athlete will experience the love of God, discover how to function in a team environment, and learn how to deal with competition in a positive and productive manner. Hebrew 12:1 High School Chapel Our Sr. High students meet once a week for Chapel. It is an incredible time where the students get a chance to connect with God. There is vibrant and exciting student-led worship and a life-changing, challenging message given each week. It is truly a time where the students lives are touched and changed by God. Cougar Café Some of the items sold at the store: Mini-Pizzas Hot Pockets Burritos Chips Gatorade Water Cup O Noodles Hot Lunch Program Our students can enjoy a daily hot lunch provided by New Era Foods. All meals are healthy, organic, and hormone-free and do not contain artificial colors, preservatives, or sweeteners. They are prepared each morning from scratch using only ingredients from local vendors. Students have access everyday to a full salad bar with a great assortment of fruits and vegetables as well as a huge variety of continually changing and evolving hot menu items. All meals comply with the nutrition standards as established by the United States Department of Agriculture for the National School Lunch Program. Free and reduced lunches are available for those who qualify. Applications are available in the school office.
Page 3 Photography In this class our high schoolers learn the art of Photography. They learn the principles necessary to take beautiful photos. Whether they use a point and shoot, a digital SLR, or simply use their smart phone, during this class they learn the fundamentals needed to get the most from their camera and give them inspiration and education to help capture their own artistic vision. Worship Arts This course is geared specifically for those individuals who want to use their musical or technical gifts for God. During this class, students work on fine-tuning their musical or technical talents as we work as a team on putting together worship sets, practicing the songs and leading worship for our school s weekly chapel. We also take time to look into God s Word to find out what He has to say about leading worship and what it truly means to be a worshiper. Graphic Arts/ Yearbook In this class our students review art elements and principles of design. Students are introduced to new ways of using design and creating works of art. The class also teaches the students why art and design are so important in our world today. These students also help create our annual yearbook. We are very excited about the yearbook every year! The students really get creative and are a huge part of capturing important events and school spirit moments.
Home Economics The Home Economics class includes instruction regarding the large number of elements that make up life on your own. It includes setting realistic priorities and goals, and how to make an income stretch as far as possible. Students learn their way around the kitchen, making a variety of foods, as well as meal planning, budgeting, clean-up and maintenance. Students learn how to use a sewing machine and practical mending techniques as well as sewing projects. They also learn the importance of preparing for the unexpected and how simple routines can save their sanity. Students will be taught the wisdom of tithing and the importance of saving for future purchases and financial security. The class gives students varied ideas that they can apply to their own unique life. Student Government Student Government plans and executes class activities, High School Retreat, and other school functions. All members of Student Government are required to participate in school events. This is a great way to be part of a team. Teacher Aide / Office Aide Teacher Aide: The teacher s aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher by preparing needed materials for the daily program, and in any other appropriate ways. This student must have a warm and friendly personality and be able to relate well to the children. Office Aide: The office aide assists the office secretary in copying materials, taking inventory of office supplies, and distributing school flyers. Mail, messenger, and delivery services will also be performed.
