Zero Bell PE Option: FAQ Landstown Middle School What is Zero Bell PE? It s an option only available to students enrolled in certain programs. Students come to school early at 8am to take their PE class. The class is from 8:05-8:55 and students particpate in their grade level Health/PE course. After class, students are dismissed to homeroom or the cafeteria for breakfast. Who can take zero bell PE? Zero Bell PE is an option available ONLY to 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grade students enrolled in either our Spanish Immersion program or our AVID elective class. Why take zero bell PE? You have the opportunity to take PE in the morning, which leaves your two elective spots open. You can now take AVID as one elective, and another class such as Tech Ed, Teen Living, Exploratory Spanish, Band, etc. as your second elective. Is there transportation available to school? Unfortunately, due to the optional part of zero bell PE, students must get a ride to school. No school bus transportation is available. Is there anything different about zero bell PE from PE during their normal elective time? No. The exact same cirriculum is used for students in all PE classes, including zero bell PE. What if my student cannot get a ride or is not interested in taking zero bell PE? That s not a problem. Your student s elective classes will be Health/PE and AVID then. Health/PE is a required class for all middle school students. If you have further questions, please contact Emily Wilson, AVID Counselor for Landstown Middle, at emily.wilson@vbschools.com or call the Guidance Office at 757-648-4761.
