Bloxham School Uniform Lists First to Fifth Form students wear the school uniform of school blazer with charcoal grey trousers for boys and the school kilt for girls. Boys also wear a school, house or authorised school club tie. Sixth Form students wear business suits with conventional shirts or blouses. The boys wear a designated school tie and the girls may wear a plain coloured cardigan or v-necked jersey. They are given clear direction at their induction visit before the start of term on what they should wear. We have a standard sports kit that is designed to be suitable for most sports through the three terms although some extra clothes may be required for particular sports. Boarders should have sufficient school and home clothes for the length of their stay and, unless they are just doing occasional boarding, should bring their own duvets, duvet covers and pillow cases. We have our own uniform shop in the Bursary (sited the other side of the High Street from Bloxham School) which also sells second hand blazers, kilts and sports kit and is run by Sarah Butler. She can answer questions and take bookings for uniform fittings. Sixth Form Boys Dress Code Clothing guidelines to comply with Bloxham School Sixth Form uniform regulations Each Sixth Form boy should own the following: Two tailored suits (conventional jacket and trousers of the same dark colour) Seven shirts (conventional, light, single-coloured shirts with a collar of the same pattern and colour as the shirt body. Subtle checks or stripes also permitted) Pair of polishable, black shoes (not brown, tan or suede) Tailored Suits Sixth Form boys tend to appreciate the opportunity to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance, acting as ambassadors for the school. There is also the desire sometimes to want to express their own individuality through their appearance. Suit jackets and trousers should be made of the same material and the same dark colour, without an obvious pattern (not checked). Good quality suits can last the boys for their entire time at Sixth Form above are some examples of some Sixth Form students in their suits.
Shirts Shirts should be long-sleeved, with single or double cuffs. Collars should be correctly sized of a single, light colour (non-iron, washable shirts are helpful) and enough to change daily. The body, collar and cuffs must be of the same plain colour and conservative design. General Appearance Boys are expected to represent themselves and the school in a fitting manner. In keeping with this idea, please consider the following further points regarding appearance: Hair should be of a similar length throughout, not below the collar or showing the scalp, and around the ears. Shaving the boys should not have beards or moustaches, and stubble should not be obvious. This will generally mean shaving daily. Jewellery is not allowed, including bracelets or bands, except for a crucifix necklace and a signet ring. Social Events There are a greater number of social events put on in the Sixth Form and the boys are often keen to participate fully. Although there is no requirement to provide the items below, past experience has shown them to be a useful addition. It would be helpful to consider appropriate wear for such occasions in three categories: Informal shirt and jeans Smart blazer or tweed jacket, suitable with a tie, and trousers (chinos, moleskins, drill, not jeans) and collared shirt Formal black tie (can be hired locally via Matrons) The picture to the right is a representation of the elements of an outfit for a smart outfit. Advice If you are unsure or would like advice, then please consult your Housemaster or the Head of Sixth Form. Boys who do not comply with the school s dress regulations will be asked to replace any inappropriate items.
Sixth Form Girls Dress Code Clothing guidelines to comply with Bloxham School Sixth Form uniform regulations Each Sixth Form girl should own the following: Two tailored suits Blouses (at least eight for Boarders) Two V-necked jumpers (or cardigans) Plain tights Two pairs of shoes Tailored Suits Girls are required to wear formal business suits to ensure they always look as smart as possible and comply with the school rules. Tailored suits can be either a skirt and jacket or a trouser suit. The set should be made of the same material, same colour and should be plain. If wearing a skirt, it should fall between the knee and the calf. Suits can be either grey, black or navy blue. Canvas jackets and tight skirts are not acceptable. A machine washable suit is hard-wearing and remains smart. Blouses Blouses should be plain and light coloured. Striped and checked patterns are allowed if subtle. V-Necked Jumpers During the colder months girls should wear plain, v-necked jumpers over the top of their shirts. Should girls prefer to wear cardigans, they should follow the same guidelines. Shoes Girls shoes should be either flat or low-heeled (maximum two-inch heel). Shoes should be black and polishable. Ballet pumps are not acceptable as they do not offer adequate support and tend to appear scruffy within a short period of time. Girls who do not comply with the school s dress regulations will be asked to replace any inappropriate items.
