Accept your place Shortlists will be published on 1st September: check your position and if you have been admitted, accept the place no later than 12am on 5th September by filling in the preenrloment application and paying the first instalment of university tuition fees. If you have not been admitted, beginning from 12am on 8th September, check the results of the further selections in the shortlists. For procedures and deadlines see Art. 8. 1. Purpose of the call and general regulations 1. This call regulates the enrolment procedures in the first year of the degree course in Philosophy, International and Economics Studies at Ca Foscari University of Venice, for 2017/2018 academic year. 2. Once you have successfully enrolled in your degree programme, you will not be able to suspend your studies in order to enrol in another course or participate in inter-university or inter-faculty transfers. 3. Personal information provided by candidates will be processed, on paper or in electronic form, in compliance with current legislation (Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003). 4. While pre-enrolling in the admission test, the candidates are allowed to choose the location where to take the test. Besides Ca Foscari University the test can be taken online in one of the following locations: Milan, up to 265 pre-enrolled candidates; Palermo, up to 40 pre-enrolled candidates. 5. Candidates shall be guaranteed access to the related documents, in accordance with Italian Law 241/1990 and subsequent amendments. 6. You are advised to carry out the enrolment procedures in reasonable advance, in line with the admission deadlines. The University declines any responsibilities for any unforeseen failures of the system, due to technical problems, connection failures and/or system overload. The University declines any responsibilities also for any acts of a third person, force majeure or circumstances that could not be avoided and whose consequences could not be prevented. 2. Places available summer selection on the 24th August 2017 1. 70 places are available in the summer selection. 2. A total number of 150 places are available for candidates enrolling in the first year of the Philosophy, International and Economics Studies degree programme. 3. Places not allocated in the spring selection, or allocated to candidates who are not enrolling by the deadline of 31st July 2017, will be made available in the summer selection. 4. Within the total number of places indicated above, 20 places are set aside to non-community students resident abroad and satisfying the requirements of the M.I.U.R. Note Prot. no. 1291 (dated 16 May 2008), these candidates will be informed by email. 5. Non-EU students residing abroad and meeting the requirements of the M.I.U.R. Note Prot. n. 1291 (dated 16 May 2008) are subject to evaluation of their qualifications, using the on-line application apply.unive.it. 3. Admission Requirements 1. In order to be admitted to the selection procedure, students must have one of the following qualifications: a diploma from upper secondary educational institutions of five-year duration, including legally recognised language high schools; a diploma from Human Science high schools and artistic upper schools with a supplementary annual course; if the candidate does not have the supplementary year, they may enter the selection anyway but if enrolled, they may be given Additional Study Demands (OFA) which will need to be fulfilled according to specific procedures. The last may vary depending on the degree course. ASD(OFA) are to be fulfilled by the end of the year. Besides that, depending on evaluation of qualifications and on the result of pre-enrolment test, students might be asked to fulfil more additional study demands. vocational secondary school certificate earned under the Law dated 27/10/1969 no. 754; a leaving certificate diploma in Applied Arts earned from a state Art institution; a secondary school qualification earned abroad, provided this is held to be fitting for enrolment purposes. 2. The qualification must be obtained by the pre-enrolment deadline (21 st August 2017). 3. Students wishing to enrol must have certified English proficiency at B2 level (or higher). A list of recognised English certificates and exemption cases is available in the reference web page (www.unive.it/unive.it/language-requirements). 4. Admissions procedure Please, verify that you correctly completed all the online pre-enrolment procedures and pay the 30 pre-enrolment fee no later than 21 st August 2017 at 12am. Candidates who do not enroll within the deadlines and the procedures referred to in this article, lapse from the right of enrolment. 4.1. Online pre-enrolment a) From 3 rd July 2017 at 12am to 21 st August 2017 candidates are to pre-enrol online on the university website. The enrolment procedure consists in two steps: registering with the University website (www.unive.it/registrazione): this procedure consists in filling in general personal data details, residence and eventually domicile. Once registered, a User Name and a password will be assigned to the candidate, who can use them to access their private area, starting from the following day, for the subsequent enrolment stage; 2

enrolling with the selection, by accessing the Personal Area of the www.unive.it website and selecting Test for admission. In particular, via this procedure, the candidate must: o indicate the degree for which they wish to take the test; o add information regarding the diploma/school certificate they possess; o must indicate the venue for the test. It will be possible to take the test in Milan and Palermo until the places are avaible; o indicate that they hold a language certificate in English at a B2 level (or higher). If the candidate does not have any certificate, they must achieve it no later than 31st December 2017; o select the button to pay the pre-enrolment fee (see section 4.2.); o print the receipt in order to participate in the test. The pre-enrolment procedure will not be completed until you have printed out the receipt. b) If they already have the credentials to access their Personal Area (for example, former Ca Foscari students or students already pre-enrolled in other University selections), the first stage must be skipped. c) The confirmation of proper enrolment in the test will occur once the online procedure is concluded. The candidate will receive a confirmation email at the address indicated when registering. d) If a candidate encounters difficulties in the pre-enrolment procedure, they can write an email to the following address immatricolazioni@unive.it. 4.2. Pre-enrolment fee a) The payment application will be active once the online pre-enrolment procedure is completed. The candidate will view a payment key through which they can get instructions for making the payment. b) The pre-enrolment fee of 30.00 Euros, is to be paid after completing the online pre-enrolment procedure (see previous point a). c) No forms of payment other than those indicated above will be accepted. d) The pre-enrolment fee will in no case be reimbursed. 4.3. Language certification in English at a B2 level (minimum) a) Holding a language certificate in English at a B2 level (or higher) is required to enrol. b) A list of recognised certificates and cases of exemption is available on reference web page (www.unive.it/conoscenzelinguistiche). c) Proof of admission does not act as verification of proficiency in English at a B2 level as a minimum. d) Candidates who do not hold a language certificate in English at a B2 level (or higher), once enrolled, must achieve this certification no later than 31st December 2017. e) Successful candidates must upload a recognised language certificate attesting proficiency in English at a B2 level at the enrolment stage. 4.4. Aids for disabled candidates and candidates diagnosed with specific learning disability a) The test is organised by the University considering the specific needs of candidates with disabilities according to the law no. 104/1992 and subsequent amendments, and considering specific needs of students with learning disability according to the law no. 170/2010. b) In case of disability or learning disability a candidate can benefit from an individualised admission test system. In order to apply for such a system, the candidate is to make a special request when enrolling in the TOLC-E. While enrolling it is also necessary to attach a medical certificate. Application undergo an evaluation on the basis of the documents submitted. In particular: A candidate with a disability is allowed to take the test using necessary aids and/or benefit from additional time according to the specific nature of the disability. As stated by law no. 1782/1 2010, a candidate with learning disability (DSA) is allowed to benefit from additional time (exceeding the time provided for the admission test). If the disability has been certified as particularly serious, in order to guarantee equal opportunities, further measures to support the candidate can be considered. c) The candidate must submit the application for aid during online pre-enrolment in the test and: state type and percentage of disability/impairment; specify any notes regarding the characteristics of the aid required; attach a certification/diagnosis in.pdf format stating the disability/impairment declared. d) In order to provide the service, candidates who may need special aids/arrangements are advised to pre-enrol online no later than the 6th August 2017. 3

5. Admission test 1. The test, written in English, consists of 80 multiple-choice questions and lasts 80 minutes. It is designed to assess: one or more topical texts comprehension: 30 questions; general knowledge: 30 questions; logical skills: 10 questions; aptitude to learn foreign languages: 10 questions. 2. Final score is calculated as follow: 1 point for a correct answer; 0 points for no answer; -0.33 points for a wrong answer. 3. A test simulator is available on www.unive.it/cdl/lt6, by selecting Iscriversi >Test d accesso. 6. Admission test procedure 6.1. Location and time a) The admission test check-in is scheduled on Thursday 24 th August 2017 at 2.30 pm. b) The test will be held in the San Giobbe campus (Cannaregio 873, Venice) in the classroom indicated in the preenrolment receipt. c) Candidates who were admitted to the admission test in Milan are to take it in Selexi Test Center, located in Vida street n. 11 20127, Milan; d) Candidates who were admitted to the admission test in Palermo are to take it in Asterisco, located in Marchese di Villabianca street n. 70 90143, Palermo; 6.2. Documents to be submitted on the day of the test a) The candidate must bring a photocopy of a valid identity document (identity card, passport or driving license) to the test. 6.3. Candidates duties a) Access to the test after its beginning is not permitted. b) During the test candidates are not permitted to communicate with each other verbally or in writing, nor relate to others, except for those charged with supervision. Candidates cannot bring bags or backpacks, books or notes, paper, cell phones, calculators or other electronic instruments with them, these items are to be deposited at the Commission desk before the test begins. Any candidate found in possession of any of the above-mentioned items will be excluded from the test. During the test, the supervising staff will be tasked with having the above-indicated rules followed. c) Candidates must remain in the exam room for the whole duration time of the test. d) If the candidate does not respect the instructions given, their test will not be considered valid. 7. Shortlist 1. Candidates will be entered in the shortlist only if they have properly pre-enrolled in the admission test by following the procedures described under the previous article 4. 2. The shortlists of the candidates admitted are drawn up according to tests results. If candidates are tied for the same place, precedence will be given to the candidate with the higher school grade. In case of further parity, the younger candidate will be preferred. 3. The shortlist will be published on 1st September 2017 on the university website (www.unive.it), following the pages sequence www.unive.it/cdl/lt6 > Iscriversi> Esiti valutazioni. Candidates will not be notified by the University as far as the shortlists results are concerned. 8. Accepting the place and further selections 8.1. General principles a) The enrolment procedure includes the winners enrolment and two further selection steps, in case some places are still available. b) Candidates who do not enroll within the deadlines and the procedures referred to in this article, lapse from the right of enrolment. c) Places allocated to non-eu students resident abroad and still vacant, will be allocated exclusively to non-eu students resident abroad. 4

8.2. Enrolment for successfully shortlisted candidates a) Candidates who are successfully shortlisted, must enroll in accordance with the procedures referred to in art. 9 starting from the 1st September 2017 to 5th September 2017 at 12am. b) Candidates shortlisted in the admission list who will not enroll in accordance with the reference procedures, will be considered quitters to all intents. c) Were any candidates to renounce their places, these will be made available by further selections, in accordance with the procedures indicated below. 8.3. Further selection of shortlisted candidates a) On 8th September 2017 at 12pm a notice will be posted on the University website, indicating the number of places still available and a list of suitable candidates, in shortlist order, who may proceed to accepting the place. b) From the 8th September 2017 at 12am to the 12th September 2017 shortlisted candidates may accept places via the specific online procedure in accordance with the procedures indicated in art.9. c) On 15th September 2017 at 12pm a notice will be posted on the website of the University with the number of places still open and a list of suitable candidates, in shortlist order, who may proceed to accepting the place. d) From 15th September 2017 to the 19th September 2017 at 12am shortlisted candidates, following the shortlist order, can accept their place via the specific online procedure, in accordance with the procedure referred to in article 9. e) On 22nd September 2017 at 12am, on the University website a notice indicating the places still available, as well as the further selection procedures for candidates still entitled to admission, will be posted, until no more places are available. 8.4. Withdrawal a) Successfully shortlisted candidates who do not accept their place in accordance with the procedure indicated above, will be officially considered quitters. 9. Enrolment procedures 9.1. Enrolment procedure a) Candidates who do not enroll according to the procedures referred to in this article, lapse from the right of enrolment. b) The enrolment procedure involves two steps: Filling in the enrolment application form online; paying the first instalment of university taxes and tuition fees; c) Filling in the enrolment application (to be completed before the deadline indicated in art. 8): to enroll candidates are to use Username and password given at the end of the registration procedure. With these credentials, candidates can access the Personal Area and click on enrolment to courses with admission test. After choosing the degree course, the enrolment procedure requires compulsory upload of a.jpg passport-size photo and the following documents: A copy of ID or passport. Copy must include both sides of the ID; The language certification (if possessed) attesting proficiency in English at a B2 level; In cases of disability, it is necessary to upload a medical certification. In case of a disability equal, or higher to 66%, the student is entitled for total exemption from taxes and tuition fees. In case of a disability from 50% to 65%, the student is entitled for a reduction in taxes and tuition fees; The qualification achieved abroad, according to what is stated by current regulations, i.e. the original qualification of secondary studies translated into one of the four European Union languages (English, French, Spanish and German) and authenticated; Declaration of value (Dichiarazione di Valore) or, if available, a CIMEA attestation of Comparability (also for Italian students with foreign qualification); In cases of non-eu student resident in Italy, a copy of their stay permit; any other document useful for enrollment. d) Payment of the first instalment of university taxes and tuition fees: in order to pay, when accessing the Personal Area of Ca Foscari website the candidate shall click on payment and get indications on how to make a payment. The amount of the first instalment of university taxes and tuition fees will be deducted from the pre-enrolment fees paid when accepting the place. e) Payment of the first instalment is to be made no later than the deadline set for accepting the place, as referred to in art. 8. 5

f) Return of the first instalment of university taxes and fees once paid in and enrolment having been concluded, is in no case allowed. g) Non-community students resident abroad and students with an academic qualification earned abroad must have had these qualifications assessed by using the specific online procedure and must register no later than the final dates referred to in article 8. They may contact the Welcome sector (welcome@unive.it) for information. 9.2. Concluding enrolment a) The completion of the enrolment application and the payment of the first instalment do not lead automatically to the student s enrolment. Enrolment will be concluded within the seven working days subsequent to payment and advised by email. 10. University transfers, Course transfers, Enrolment with acknowledgment of credits 1. During the first year of study students are not allowed to transfer from or to other Universities, neither to transfer from one course degree to another. During the first year of enrolment, students are not allowed to suspend their studies. 2.
