The School: Founded in 1887, Belvoir Christian Academy is a ministry of First Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for students in preschool through grade eight. Belvoir Christian Academy is recognized in the community as having high academic standards, with graduates being accepted to a variety of distinguished high schools. In 2014, BCA added a Christian Children s Center, caring for children from six weeks of age through two years of age. Belvoir Christian Academy enrolls students from eight municipalities in Tennessee and north Georgia. Accreditation: BCA is accredited by AdvancED (formerly SACS, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), and also by National Lutheran Schools Accreditation. BCA is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The school competes in the Chattanooga Private Schools Athletic Association. Governance Model: Belvoir Christian Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of four members of First Lutheran Church, four members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and one member at large. The Board, in partnership with the Head of School, adopts policies and procedures to guide the operation of the school. The Head of School is the one employee of the Board and is responsible for the management of the school. All other employees report to the Head of School.

Academics: Belvoir Christian Academy approaches every area of life from a biblical worldview, and nowhere is this more critically foundational than in the design of the curriculum. Students receive a comprehensive education which includes biblical studies at every grade level along with science, math, language arts, social studies, and enrichments in art, music, computer, international language, physical education, and library. The school provides a developmentally appropriate program designed to foster selfconfidence, a love of learning, and the discovery of individual capabilities. We include service opportunities as a way of enabling students to practice serving and caring for others.

The Position: Belvoir Christian Academy is seeking a Head of School to lead a community of 150 students and 46 faculty and staff members. BCA is blessed with passionate and dedicated faculty, enthusiastic students, and strong community support. The school benefits from the invaluable leadership from its Board of Trustees and its association with First Lutheran and Good Shepherd Lutheran churches. The next Head of School will find a community dedicated to the mission of serving the educational, spiritual and social needs of families in our community by developing a biblical worldview through stimulating instruction and creative opportunities. The successful applicant will: Be an active member of a Christian church, a follower of Jesus Christ; Have a Master s degree; Have at least 3 years experience as an educational administrator, and; Demonstrate a proven record of growing a school through enrollment and fundraising initiatives. The Opportunity: The next Head of School will lead Belvoir Christian Academy during a pivotal time in its history. The school benefits from a solid foundation and lengthy heritage. The new Head of School will play an important role in strategic planning as the churches and school consider the vital place of a Christian education in this community.

The Community: BCA is located in the center of the Chattanooga s metropolitan area. Chattanooga is a growing city with new businesses and manufacturing moving in every year. The city is big enough to have all of the popular activities, shops and restaurants but small enough to be friendly, have low crime and only moderate traffic. Chattanooga is one of the South s top travel destinations. The New York Times named Chattanooga one of the Top 45 Places to go" in the World. Only four US destinations were named, and the Scenic City was the only place outside of California. Tucked between the mountains of Southeast Tennessee, along the beautiful Tennessee River, Chattanooga is one of America s most breathtaking cities.
