EXTERNAL PROVIDERS AND OUTSIDE TUTORS POLICY EXTERNAL PROVIDERS Students f St Pius X Cllege may apply t study curses that are ffered by external prviders in the absence f the curses being ffered by the Cllege r a suitably qualified teacher being available in the schl t deliver that curse r the student having a subject clash in their subject chices. Definitin f an external prvider: Any rganisatin that St Pius X Cllege has entered int an arrangement with t deliver a specific curse f study that is part f the curriculum as described by Parts 1, 3, 7 and 8 f the Educatin Act t a student r students enrlled at the Cllege. These rganisatins will be limited t: anther registered schl a gvernment schl including the Open High Schl Distance Educatin Centres Open Training and Educatin Netwrk (OTEN) Saturday Schl f Cmmunity Languages TAFE Clleges Registered Training Organisatins (RTOs) ther external prviders with apprpriate scpe f registratin, qualificatins and expertise. At the cmmencement f each Academic Year, the Curriculum Administratin Crdinatr under the supervisin f the Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning will identify students enrlled at the Cllege wh are applying t undertake curses f study thrugh an external prvider. These students will be entered n the Cllege s Register f External Prviders (See Appendix 1). The Register f External Prviders will recrd the fllwing prcesses t ensure the Cllege fulfils its respnsibilities t the student and t ensure that all f the registratin requirements that are relevant t that mde f delivery by the external prvider are met: Recrding f student name and student cde Identificatin f the external prvider Identificatin f the intended curse f study Ensuring that external prviders are: regulated by NSW Gvernment Department f Educatin and Cmmunities (e.g. TAFE, Saturday Language Schl, Open High Schl), r regulated by VETAB (e.g. VET private prviders), r registered by Bard f Studies (e.g. ther nn-gvernment schls)

Ensuring that external prviders are regulated in relatin t cmpliance with the Child Prtectin (Wrking with Children) Act 2012 in relatin t each persn in child-related wrk as defined by the Child Prtectin (Wrking with Children) Act 2012 Ensuring the suitability f the external prvider t deliver the curse, including, where relevant, evidence f certificatin f the prvider(s) by apprpriate agencies Determinatin that the utsurced curses cmprise a minrity f the student s verall pattern f study fr each Stage f learning, unless the BOSTES apprval has been btained t utsurce mre than a minrity f each student s verall pattern f study. A minrity f their subjects in this case means n mre than tw subjects in their Stage 5 pattern f study r fur (4) units f study in their Preliminary r HSC pattern in ttal being studied thrugh either an utside tutr and/r external prvider. The student s Stage 5 r HSC Cnfirmatin f Enrlment will indicate that the student is studying nly a minrity f subjects thrugh an utside tutr and/r external prvider. When necessary, keeping written statements frm the external prvider that the curse will be taught in accrdance with the BOS Syllabuses and assessed accrding t the requirements f the ACE manual. That the Cllege and the external prvider have entered int a Memrandum f Understanding that identifies the respective respnsibilities f the schl and the prvider, including the fllwing: The external prvider will be required t prvide the Cllege with a reprt fr the student accrding t the prvider s reprting prcess. The external prvider will be respnsible fr the entering f a student s grades fr the RSA and assessment marks fr the HSC n the Bard f Studies ebos schls nline site. The external prvider will infrm the Cllege as sn as it becmes aware that the student is nt participating with due diligence The external prvider will infrm the Cllege if the student is at risk f nt cmpleting the curse The Cllege will infrm the external prvider if the student is experiencing issues that may affect the students participatin in the curse The Cllege will infrm the external prvider that the student has ceased enrlment at the Cllege Arrangements r agreements fr external examinatins Apprval by the Cllege fr a student t cmplete a curse f study prvided by an external prvider will nly be granted nce these prcesses have been cmpleted and verified. Respnsibility fr the safety and welfare f students The schl acknwledge its respnsibility t ensure verall respnsibility fr the safety and welfare f students undertaking curses with an external prvider and all Cllege plices in this area cntinue t apply. Mnitring f Requirements In alignment with the Cllege s reprting timeline, the Curriculum Administratin Crdinatr in cnsultatin with the Careers Advisr will seek prgress reprts fr each student frm the relevant prvider. The Curriculum Administratin Crdinatr will review the Cllege s Register f External Prviders at the cmmencement f each Academic Year t ensure that all f the abve requirements will cntinue t be met fr the curse f study delivered by each external prvider. Issues t d with external prviders: In the event f any cmplaints r cncerns being raised by the student, their parent, anther persn r by an external prvider the Curriculum Administratin Crdinatr will investigate these issues with the apprpriate persn/s. Findings related t the issues are t be prvided t all parties where apprpriate. This may include cntacting the external prvider, the class teacher, their supervisr r ther peple as required. At all times prcedural fairness is t be fllwed as set ut in the Cllege s discipline plicy and in the Cllege s grievance plicy.

Outside Tutrs Students f St Pius X Cllege may apply t study curses that are ffered by an Outside Tutr in the absence f the curses being ffered by the Cllege r a suitably qualified teacher being available in the Cllege t deliver that curse r the student having a subject clash in their subject chices. Definitin f an Outside Tutr A persn ther than a teaching staff member f the Cllege, whm the Cllege has apprved t deliver a specified curse that is part f the curriculum as described by Parts 1, 3, 7 and 8 f the Educatin Act t students enrlled in the Cllege. The delivery f such a curse may take place n Cllege premises r at premises ther than the Cllege s premises. The utside tutr may deliver the curse t students during r utside schl hurs. At the cmmencement f each Academic Year, the Curriculum Administratin Crdinatr under the supervisin f the Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning will identify students enrlled at the Cllege wh are applying t undertake curses f study thrugh an utside tutr. These students will be entered n the Cllege s Register f Outside Tutrs (See Appendix 2). The Register f Outside Tutrs will recrd the fllwing prcesses t ensure the Cllege has taken all reasnable steps t ensure that each tutr has the capacity t teach the curse; ensuring that by engaging the services f an utside tutr, the schl remains in cmpliance with the Child Prtectin (Wrking with Children) Act 2012 in relatin t each persn in child-related wrk as defined by the Child Prtectin (Wrking with Children) Act 2012; and the Cllege fulfils its respnsibilities t the student and t ensure that all f the registratin requirements that are relevant t that mde f delivery by the utside tutr are met: Recrding f student name and student cde Identificatin f the utside tutr Identificatin f the intended curse f study Verify an utside tutr s capacity t teach a curse by btaining certified dcumentatin f qualificatins and/r evidence f relevant experience and/r expertise. Recrds f referee checks including the date, name f the referee, their relatinship t the utside tutr, the utcme. Assessing the capacity f the utside tutr by analysing the Scpe and Sequence, Assessment Outline and Teaching Prgram fr the intended curse f study. A signed and dated declaratin by the Principal (r equivalent) r an apprpriate persn with the principal s (r equivalent s) delegated authrity that a wrking with children check clearance has been btained under the Child Prtectin (Wrking with Children) Act 2012 in relatin t the utside tutr and the utcme f that prcess Determinatin that the utsurced curses cmprise a minrity f the student s verall pattern f study fr each Stage f learning, unless the BOSTES apprval has been btained t utsurce mre than a minrity f each student s verall pattern f study.
