1 Information on the 2018 Ewha International Co-Ed Summer College The Ewha International Co-Ed Summer College (EISC or Ewha ISC) provides two different sessions. Program Overview International Summer College (ISC) as known as Session I As members of the Ewha community located in the heart of Seoul, students can fully explore Korea and discover new knowledge by enrolling in a variety of courses taught by distinguished faculty, as well as from interacting with peers, from all over the world. Well-known for its strong academic program, Ewha ISC offers around 40 courses taught by professors from Ewha and other top foreign universities. Summer Special Program (SSP) as known as Session II Ewha SSP is primarily designed for students interested in Korean studies to learn the language and to get acquainted with Korean culture and society through special lectures. Beyond the academics, students participate in a number of field trips that complement their learning, all the while experiencing the exciting and diverse student life on campus and in Shinchon, Korea s most vibrant campus town. Yes, students taking Korean language must take the online placement test that will be e-mailed about a month prior to arrival at Ewha. *No need to have any knowledge in Korean to take Korean class. B. Procedure Step 1 Create an account at the online application site at: http://summer.ewha.ac.kr/on-line-application Step 2 Submit application after uploading all documents and filling in all information as such: - Personal information - Academic information - Personal contact information/ Emergency contact information - Course selection (for ISC (Session I)) - Housing request (including type of roommate) Step 3 Receive email notification of approval (and communication channel) Step 4 Download Admission Letter from the application page. Step 5 For airport pick-up service, submit arrival and flight information at Pick-up Request on the application page. Step 6 Come to Ewha! C. On-campus Housing On-campus dormitory is provided on first-come-first-served, but students can find their own off-campus housing if wanted. Dormitory fee should be paid after arrival at Ewha. Students are given an invoice at the orientation on the first day of the program. All fees should be paid in cash at the on-campus bank (Shinhan Bank) or through bank transfer. No personal checks or credit cards will be accepted. Students will also be informed about how to pay their fees at the orientation. Visa Students are responsible for obtaining a visa in advance at the Korean Embassy or Consulate Office of the country where their home university is located. Nationals of countries or regions where Korea has signed a visa waiver agreement may enter Korea without a visa. However, students from countries which are excluded from the visa waiver agreement must apply for a (tourist) visa on their own. Obtaining a visa may be time-consuming and therefore we encourage students to start preparing for it ASAP. 4. Life at Ewha A. Airport Pick-up Service Students may request Incheon Airport (ICN) pick-up service by submitting their arrival and flight information after they are accepted. After they are admitted, a button on top of the application will be created pick-up request. Deadline for the request: May 25, 2018, additional request will NOT be accepted. Fee: around 75,000KRW/car (up to 3 students will share a ride and split the fee in cash) Information regarding the pick-up arrangement will be announced by the 2nd week of June. B. Local student support Professional Ewhaians At Cultural Exchange as known as PEACE buddies (http://summer.ewha.ac.kr/life-at-ewha/peace-buddies) will be matched 1:1 with international students. The buddies will help the students adjust to Ewha and Korea throughout the program. C. Transcript and Certificate - Transcripts are sent to home universities in September. Coordinators at home university are responsible for updating their mailing address and contact information to receive the official transcripts for credittransfer. - Certificates of program completion are distributed on the last day of the program during the closing ceremony. Students need to pick up their own certificates. D.
