The only par of he course ha does no involve augh sudy and group work, is he final par he Disseraion. (This MA does no offer a disance learning mode of learning.) The course begins in early Sepember 2018 and alhough here is no official deadline we would recommend ha you apply as soon as possible o avoid disappoinmen as we do have a limi on he number of sudens we can offer places o. For enry o our course, you need o send in a porfolio of creaive wriing, in addiion o holding a good degree in English or a relaed subjec. The porfolio of creaive wriing is an imporan elemen of he applicaion (boh for ars graduaes and for hose from anoher discipline or wihou radiional qualificaions) and should represen some of your bes work o dae. A srong porfolio could override he need for a 2:1 in English. Please selec carefully and presen accuraely. Aendance The Roue is offered par-ime or full-ime (usually a 12 week semeser wih a break of one week in he middle). Course conen The MA comprises four augh modules: The Wriing Sudio Sources and Transformaions Meaphor and he Imaginaion Launching he Manuscrip Par-ime Roue: Usually one module per semeser (wo per year), followed by he disseraion (now called The Manuscrip 20,000 words). The modules are inended o form a series of inpu sessions which are followed by workshops, in which he focus is on developing he suden s wriing. Assessmen To gain an MA in Creaive Wriing, sudens need o complee all four modules from hose offered and a disseraion of 20,000 words (or poery/drama equivalens). Her sories have been widely published in boh he UK and abroad, and broadcas on he BBC. In 2008 she was awarded he Sociey of Auhors' Prize for Shor Ficion, in 2011 she was shorlised for he BBC Naional Shor Sory Award, and in 2012 she was longlised for The Inernaional Sunday Times EFG Shor Sory Award. Her sory collecion Fifeen Modern Tales of Aracion (Penguin) was 'highly recommended' by Time Ou and deemed by he Guardian o be 'as invenive as i is original'. She is currenly compleing her second shor sory collecion. His plays have feaured in Radio 4's Pick of he Week and have been favourably reviewed in The Guardian, Independen and The Observer. Naomi holds a PhD in Creaive Wriing from he Universiy of Wales and has also augh a Goldsmihs College. She has published wo collecions of poery wih Waerloo Press, including The Nigh Pavilion, a 2008 Poery Book Sociey Recommendaion; her hird collecion, Adamanine, is forhcoming in 2018 from Red Hen Press (US). Her firs novel, cyberchiller Seoul Survivors was published by Jo Flecher Books (Quercus) in Feb 2013, followed by Asra (2014), Rook Song (2015) and The Blood of he Hoopoe (2016), he firs hree volumes of The Gaia Chronicles, a pos-apocalypic eco-science fanasy quare.
