ACCOUNTING MAJOR AREA MINOR Effective FALL 2017 Deciding on a major area minor is an important step in improving your success in the job market. It can assist you in demonstrating that you have some expertise and/or passion in one specific accounting related area, and may be helpful when listed on your resume and on job applications. Finance is used by individuals, governments, businesses, schools and not for profit organizations. Careers in commercial banking, real estate, financial planning are examples of career paths one can take after studying finance. [ ] Forensic The forensic accounting field detects accounting financial fraud, embezzlement, bribery and corruption Accounting schemes. The primary career of a Forensic Accountant is with a law enforcement agency, insurance companies or major corporations. [ ] Business The study of law enables you to understand the U.S. legal system and the various facets of our Law community that it affects. Whether a successful entrepreneur or criminal justice practitioner, one must understand the legal system and how it impacts economic success and security. Careers related to the law include criminal or corporate attorney, legal assistant, court administrators, various federal assignments, judges, sole practitioner, and compliance officer.
