In long-term joint ventures, we deliver pathway courses for international students leading to undergraduate and postgraduate study. INTO invests in new study centres and a global network that recruits students from many cultures. Based at the state-of-the-art INTO Centre, on the University of East Anglia campus, the successful applicant will work on our Newton A Level Programme. This elite programme caters for high ability international and UK students who are aiming to become tomorrow s leading medics, scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and economists and is unique within the UK as it is the only A Level course taught on a university campus which offers our students unrivalled access to UEA s academic and social facilities. Whilst we offer an extensive range of extra-curricular and enhancement activities including the CREST Award and EPQ, we are equally proud of our exceptional academic results and student experience. With 88% of our students achieving A*-A grades and 100% of our students achieving A*-C grades in 2016, our students most common set of results is routinely A*, A*, A*, A*. Requirements With our numbers increasing, we require a part-time experienced A Level teacher in Maths to start from January 2018. The successful applicant must hold a relevant post-graduate qualification and relevant teaching experience. The post holder must also be highly enthusiastic and have an imaginative and adaptable approach to the delivery of the curriculum area. As an exceptional teacher you will be able to demonstrate high standards of delivery in a consistent manner, be committed to improving achievement across all areas of your subject and have an understanding of the strategies required to accomplish this. Strong planning and organisational skills are also required.

Experience of working with international students would be an advantage but not essential and you would be expected to contribute to the Newton Programme pastoral system. Job Description A Level Teacher Context INTO is an organisation working in partnership with leading British Universities and investing in the development of world-class international student centres. It specialises in preparing students for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK. Our Centres deliver guaranteed progression onto leading British undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Each INTO Centre is managed by a joint venture management board in which INTO and the partner University are equal shareholders. Reporting Line The A Level Teacher reports to the A Level Programme Manager. Job Purpose To take responsibility for managing, running and delivering the A Level programme. Teaching Job Dimensions Ability to teach academic subjects across a range of classes varying in intensity and class size. This includes lectures, seminars and tutorials; Ability to teach a variety of students from a variety of countries and cultural backgrounds and at different language levels; Ability to assess effectiveness of teaching skills against student progress and performance; Will be required to work with key stakeholders across the University (e.g. academic schools/departments, University tutors, selectors, Degree Programme Directors, Admissions Office, Graduate School, Student Progress Office and International Office); Will be required to work with key stakeholders across other functional areas of INTO such as marketing, finance, student services; may also be required to liaise with student s parents, sponsors and other external stakeholders; Staff taking additional roles (e.g. material production) will have their teaching adjusted accordingly, as agreed with their line manager. Teaching Key Accountabilities Teach (an) academic subject(s) to international students at the INTO Centre. This includes students who are preparing for future University study and other students on customised courses, as required; Develop purposeful and appropriate schemes of work and lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and meet the individual needs of students; Prepare, select and use appropriate teaching-learning materials for international students (including the use of textbooks, in-house materials and self-created materials); Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations. Design programme tests and assessment tasks as required; Provide oral and written feedback to students and other stakeholders (e.g. Senior Director, Programme Manager, academic schools, marketing staff, sponsors and parents); Develop reasonable rules of classroom behaviour and ensure they are consistently applied; Provide academic support for international students, as appropriate, through consultations and tutorials (e.g. guidance on study skills and academic expectations for University study, advice on where to seek additional academic support and information); Carry out administrative and record-keeping tasks associated with teaching and assessment (e.g. student progress reports, test invigilation, marks sheets, attendance and activity records, tutorial logs, advising logs, and UCAS references); Contribute to course and module development; Provide teaching cover in the absence of other colleagues; Participate in the social programme where this is an integral part of the teaching-learning programme (e.g. accompanying trips and attending events); Page 3 of 5

Participate in and contribute to briefing sessions, student and teacher induction and orientation and programme functions; Act as a positive ambassador for INTO; Participate in staff development and professional training as required; Attend Centre and section meetings as required. Phd or higher degree holder. PGCE teaching qualification. Skills/Knowledge Demonstrate leadership and competence in teaching the relevant subject to A level standard or higher. Must be able to teach courses varying in intensity and number of students. Be aware and sensitive to language barriers whilst teaching. Excellent teaching, presentation, written and verbal communication skills. Up to date knowledge and awareness of subject related teaching methodologies. Awareness of the cultural differences amongst learners and awareness of the needs of learners in the international HE context. Self motivated and ability to work independently. A team player. Versatility and flexibility to adapt the curriculum plan depending on the needs of the students. Ability to make decisions around lesson content and sequencing, assessment of student performance and evaluation of teaching programme. Demonstrate ability to manage and motivate effective teams in a fast changing environment. Strong planning and organisational skills. Ability to communicate and influence others at all levels and ensure the message is clearly understood. Good basic IT skills with a familiarity of Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
