C-DAC Chennai Digital India Activities carried out at C-DAC DAY-3 (03/07/2015) Highlights As part of Digital India Week 2015, C-DAC Chennai organized an industrial visit for students from S.A Engineering college, Poonamalli Chennai. A batch of 57 students from the Information Technology branch visited C-DAC Chennai centre around 11:00 AM. There were presentations for the students on General awareness about C-DAC, History of C-DAC, Various R&D activities of C-DAC, thematic areas of C- DAC and current activities happening in C-DAC Chennai. There were technical presentations on e-sign and e-basta projects and product familiarization. Demonstrative sessions for the students about C-DAC products were organized along with a visit to the Ubiquitous computing lab. Ms.Indira Prakash, Coordinator for AP & Telangana, Centre for Environment Education About the Program As part of Digital India Week(DIW), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) launched the following mobile apps in a function held on 03.07.2015 in Hyderabad. Mobile App for Agriculture 1. RiceVocs Mobile App is a Compendium of Rice related vocabulary comprises of about 2500 terms related to rice crop arranged in alphabetical manner. It is a ready reckoner for the extension officers working with the rice knowledge. This application has been developed by C-DAC in collaboration with Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR). 2. RKMP's Learnrice Mobile App providing users with a comprehensive list of courses specifically designed for the rice crop. These courses will serve as a knowledge base for the users to enhance or

refresh their knowledge levels. This application has been developed by C-DAC in collaboration with Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR). Mobile Apps for Fishermen Potential Fishing Zone Advisory(PFZ) mobile app can be used to provide advisories to the fishermen on a daily basis with specific references to 586 fish landing centers along the Indian coast. This application has been developed by C-DAC in collaboration with Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). Mobile Apps for Environment Joy of Learning mobile apps provides useful science experiments details for 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 standards respectively. These applications have been developed by C-DAC in association with Centre for Environment Education(CEE). Sri.E.Magesh, Director, C-DAC mentioned various initiatives undertaken by C-DAC under Digital India Program. Dr.S.Satheesh Chandra Shenoi, Director, INCOIS said that proposed PFZ mobile apps in Indian Languages will be beneficial to 1.5 Lakh fishermen in India. Dr.V.Ravindrababu, Project Director, Indian Institute of Rice Research emphasized the need for using ICT and mobile apps for bringing revolution in Agriculture Sector. 2. Awareness Session to AMS School of Informatics, Osmania University Road, Hyderabad An awareness session was organized for the students of AMS School of Informatics, Osmania University Road, Hyderabad on 3rd July, 2015 from 2.00 PM 3.30 PM as part of the Digital India Week celebrations. Students from MBA MCA streams are actively participated (about 61 students) in the awareness workshop on Digital India and various C-DAC s Technologies. Principal, College staff and Director of the institute was participated and appreciated C-DAC s efforts in Nation building. All the students were briefed about Digital India, C-DAC products and services, Vikaspedia and Information security Education. Instant Quiz was also organized as part of the session and all the winners were awarded with instant prizes like T-shirts were distributed to all the participated students. Students were suggested to participate in the http://quiz.digitalindia.gov.in. Glimpses of the awareness session:

C-DAC Kolkata Students from Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Garia visited our labs today 3/7/15 as part of the Digital India Week(1 st July to 7 th July,2015) celebration/activity at CDAC Kolkata Centre. The group of 42 ( in 4 subgroups ) 3 rd Year B.Tech Students have got an exposure to the various projects/products been implemented / developed at our Centre today from 2.30 pm. The students expressed satisfaction on given a chance to have first hand exposure to the IT / Electronic projects being carried out at CDAC, Kolkata.

C-DAC Mohali The showcasing of a host of IT products and technologies like Wireless ECG, Wireless Digital Stethoscope, Automated Bio-Chemistry Analyzer, Awareness Kiosk under IT for Masses scheme, Unicode Convertor, e-mulazim, e-sanjeevani developed by the Centre is being continued for the benefit of the public, research scholars and the student community.

An ISEA workshop has been conducted on 3 rd July at Government High School (Smart school) Sec 50, Chandigarh. There was an overwhelming response from students (Around 100 in number) regarding this workshop. C-DAC Mumbai Presentations were given on Mobile Seva, Biometric Authentication System, e Sangam and e-sign and e- pramaan projects of C-DAC Mumbai by Mr. Manish Kumar, Mr. Nipun Pandey, Ms. Sweta Suhassaria and Ms. Cini Panicker who are working on these projects. It was a one and half hour session organized by C-DAC Mumbai at its Juhu Campus and was made available through videoconferencing at its Kharghar Campus. C-DAC Pune organized symposium on 03/07/2015 from 1430 hrs. to 17:30 hrs. This programme has been attended by around 110 students from Symbiosis Institute of Geo-informatics (SIG) and Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT). C-DAC Pune showcased video of the recorded clipping of Hon ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi s speech at the launch of Digital India Week at Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi. Chief guest Dr. P. K. Sinha, Senior Director Strategy, R & D, Corporate office, C-DAC explained the upcoming wave of transformation in information technology sector and deliberated about internet of things (IoT) and smart objects. Dr. N. Subramanian, Joint Director, R&D from C-DAC explained the intricacies of e-hastakshar (Online Digital Signing Service) and answered various queries of the students. Mr. Ashish Kuvelkar, Associate Director, ESHP, C-DAC talked about Digital future How CDAC is shaping it for Indians. He explained the vision of Digital India and elaborated on C-DAC s contributions in various areas. The program ended with a movie on PARAM-YUVA (High Performance Computer) followed by question and answer session with the students. C-DAC Noida

Post launch C-DAC,Noida celebrated the Digital India week by hosting/participating in various events to spread awareness of the Digital India program. The day started with the faculty members from C-DAC, Noida participating in a video conference interactive meet conducted by IIT Bombay to showcase projects to empower the nation through Education Technology. In the afternoon, C-DAC Noida organized a visit of delegates from Industry / Institutes to propagate the Digital India vision. The main invitees were from Computer Society of India (CSI), Institute of Management Studies (IMS), National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Inderprastha Engineering College (IPEC), R-Systems etc Ms.Priti Razdan, Joint Director gave an insight into the Digital India initiatives launched by Hon ble Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi. This was followed by a glimpse into the activities of C-DAC, Noida. Senior Members from various groups gave a bird s eye view about the activities / product in the areas of e-governance, Health Informatics, Speech and Natural Language Processing, Embedded System Design, e-learning and Academics. Further, the audience were enlightened about Cyber Security by Sh Anuj Agarwal, Chairman, CSI, Noida Chapter. C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram An Awareness talk on Digital India was delivered by Sasi PM, Associate Director, Health and Software Technologies Group on 3rd July for the students of Engineering Colleges. Around 42 Engineering college students attended the talk.

C-DAC Bangalore Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Digital Signatures Awareness Program Dr Balaji, Principal Technical officer organized and presented Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Awareness Program. This was conducted by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bangalore, with the support of the office of Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA). Participants were from ELCIA (Electronics City Industries Association).

Technical presentations and demo Shri Hari Babu, Principal Technical Officer presented various products and solutions related to Internet of Things with use cases of Smart City etc. Later Dr Subrata Chattopadhyay, Associate Director delivered lecture on HPC technology followed by GARUDA presentations. Ms Sobha and Mr Vivian from Secure Hardware and VLSI Design Group presented GENESYS A High Speed Traffic generator and other products.
