NYSAISAA New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletic Association TO: NYSAISAA Member Athletic Directors, and Boys Basketball Coaches FROM: Bob Annunziata, Post Season Coordinator, NYSAISAA Athletic Directors Committee RE: Twentieth Annual NYSAISAA Boys A & B Division Federation Qualifier Basketball Tournament Enclosed please find material pertinent to the Twentieth Annual NYSAISAA Boys Basketball Tournament, scheduled for March 3, 4, and 6, 2011. Note: If a play-in game is needed - Wednesday, March 2nd will be used. Please be aware that weather conditions may alter dates and times. Details relating to the tournament format and selection procedure can be found in the enclosed Policies and Information Packet. I urge your attention to this notice, especially in regard to the November 19, 2010 deadline for completing the Declaration Form. The format provides for two separate tournament division brackets designated as A & B each one which will crown a NYSAISAA champion and Federation Qualifier. * A Federation Basketball Request to Withdraw Form is available on the NYSAIS Website. The A-Division and B-Division brackets have been established for those schools who have declared themselves eligible for the federation tournament. All schools declaring Federation will continue to have their schedules reviewed by the AEC Classification Committee. The intent of the committee will be to evaluate and then confirm a school s classification into either the B or A brackets based on a school s request, success of program, and strength of schedule. The Boy s Classification Committee will meet with sport representatives from each league only if deemed necessary, to gather information regarding schools who applied. Representatives will have no voting rights. Please do not hesitate to call me or the Boys Tournament Coordinator, if you have any questions concerning this year's NYSAISAA Boys Basketball Tournament. Adopted 2010: No payment required with declaration for following sports: Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Lacrosse. Billing will take place following selection to tournament. Participation in NYSAISAA or Federation Post Season play is a privilege. Certain criteria must be met in advance of tournament play. All issues related to deadlines, declarations, and fees will affect admission and selection. Failure to meet any criteria may disqualify schools from inclusion in postseason participation. The AEC oversees all eligibility decisions and appeals. (Dec./07).

The Selection Committee shall have sole discretion as to the selection of the site(s) for its tournament games. The top-seeded team may not necessarily be awarded the privilege of hosting a tournament game if the overall availability, condition and/or court dimension of facility is deemed inadequate.
