ARRIVAL AT THE UAB/ FACULTAT D ECONOMIA I EMPRESA Location of the campus The main campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is located 20 km outside of Barcelona, in Bellaterra (municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès), between the towns of Sabadell and Sant Cugat del Vallès. It is 3 km from Cerdanyola, 4 km from Sabadell and 5 km from Sant Cugat, the most important towns in the surrounding area (click on the image to know how to get to the UAB). Campuses at the Facultat d Economia i Empresa The Facultat d Economia i Empresa is divided in two campuses: One located in the township of Bellaterra and another in the city of Sabadell. The most comfortable way to reach the Sabadell campus is by the Catalan railway network: Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya. From UAB Bellaterra station (located inside the campus) to Sabadell Rambla station (located 10 minutes on foot from Sabadell campus) there are trains every 15 minutes and the journey takes approximately 5 minutes; (click on the image to know how to get to Sabadell campus). EXCHANGE STUDENTS CIRCUIT First steps when you get here 1 Go to the International Welcome Point (IWP) to present your personal details and collect the international student card. IWP is located in the Plaça Cívica. Your arrival will be recorded and you will find the following services: International student card, which will identify you as a UAB student. You must provide two photographs and your passport or identity card. Information about UAB. Information about accommodation. Some practical information about life in Barcelona and its surrounding area (transport, advantages for students, etc.). Help solving your problems during your stay with us. Information about visas. Hand in the documents that need to be signed that requires your home university (arrival certificate, learning agreement ). It is not necessary that you sent the learning agreement in advance, keep it until your final registration, after the changes period, thus you will be able to modify it before our signature and send the final version to your home university.
Language courses If you are interested in taking language courses, you should contact the Language Services of UAB; these courses will not be registered at Gestió Acadèmica. The languages courses are not included in the faculty s transcript of records; you will have to request for the suitable certification at the Languages Services of UAB with enough time before your departure.
ENROLMENT PROCESS Choosing courses Once you have done your online application form and received your admission letter from our International Office at UAB, during the month of June (for first semester and annual stays) and during December (for second semester stays) you will receive an e-mail sent from the Exchange Office at the Faculty of Economics and Business with all the information you need to choose your courses: Course Offer Necessary Paperwork Link to the system where you will be able to apply for courses and make a previous appointment for enrolment at your arrival. Application period This information will also be available on our website http://www.uab.cat/economiaempresa. As you will see, the course offer is sorted by semesters, you have to choose courses according to the term during which you are coming. You should check the language, credits, timetables and group of each course. It is very important that you choose the group correctly, since it determines the timetable of each course. Keep in mind that you can only choose and enrol courses from this list, despite our course offer is slightly higher on our website. If you are interested in taking courses from other faculties and you need information about them, you should check the other faculties website or contact them. Each Faculty at UAB has its own process and it is highly likely that it is not the same that we are describing here. The Faculty of Economics and Business cannot guarantee the access to the courses from other faculties, hence, if when formalizing your registration there is no free places, we should ask for authorization to that faculty. In addition, you should bear in mind that at least 50% of your credits must be enrolled in our faculty.
Getting place, making an appointment and necessary paperwork Once you have decided your courses, you will have to prepare the documents you can see bellow and upload them on the system. Following, we will proceed to review your documents, if they are correct and you meet the academic and language requirements to get access to courses, the system will allow you to choose your courses and make the appointment for the official enrolment. Be aware that you will have a deadline for this process, about which we will inform you on the aforementioned message. Photocopy of your passport Updated Student Academic Records Language Certificate. To get access to the courses offered at the Faculty of Economics and Business, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a minimum level of B2 will be required for the language of instruction of the chosen courses, that is, English, Spanish or Catalan. Regarding courses taught in Catalan, a Spanish certificate will also be accepted due to the similarity between both languages. The required level can be stated by three possible ways: 1. Official Certification (B2, DELE, FCE, TOEFL 87, IELTS 5 or equivalent). 2. Certification issued by the Language Services at the home university. 3. Certification issued by the home university that states the student is following studies taught entirely in the corresponding language or has passed 90 credits in that language, as a minimum. Admission to courses Once you have got place and made your appointment, you should print out your course selection. In order to proceed with your official enrolment this document must be delivered, duly signed, to the Gestió Acadèmica at the Faculty, the day of registration that you got from the system. You will have to show your passport when arriving.
Very important aspects 1 The system will only be available during the period that we will inform you by E-mail, out of this deadline, you will not be able to choose courses nor make any appointment. You will have to wait to be at UAB and choose your courses from the vacant list that we will show you. 2 The official enrolment takes place after arrival. For the first semester, students usually register in the first week of September; for the second semester students usually register around the first week of February. You should arrive at UAB one week in advance of the beginning of classes, you will have an appointment for it, make it on the system aforementioned. Changes to registration For sometime after the registration period, you will be able to change the courses that you have registered for. You should ask at Gestió Acadèmica within the established period. You will be informed about the deadline at the same time of your official enrolment. No changes will be possible after this date. Transcript of records Once you have finished your exams and your stay with us, we will send your transcript of records directly to your home university. This transcript will not contain, in any case, courses you have not included in your registration, such as language courses. The Languages Services of UAB will give you the suitable certificate. You should ask them for it with enough time before your departure.
