Course Description Updates in Internal Medicine is designed to present the latest practice information for the ever-changing discipline of internal medicine. Sessions will cover new guidelines, recent studies, and practice changes in general internal medicine and selected subspecialties. Expert Mayo Clinic faculty will present emerging practical and evidence-based clinical approaches to commonly encountered conditions. Course Learning Objectives Summarize recent updates, clinical studies, and new guidelines that impact practice in general medicine. Recognize common clinical pearls in the areas of general internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, and infectious diseases. Review cases in fibromyalgia. Summarize new treatment strategies for diabetic patients. Describe updates to management patients perioperatively. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. Intended Audience Practicing general internists, family practice physicians, sub-specialists, and advanced practitioners in need of practice updates. Credit College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic designates this live activity for a maximum of 18 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
