Global Education in Austria Global Learning Strategy aims are: structural strengthening of Global Education in the Formal Education System expansion of academic research and conceptual development strengthening Global Education in Non-formal Education Establishing Global Education with various stakeholders in society -

the facts Pilotproject simultaneously in 5 countries in 40 schools: Austria (10 schools) Benin (5 schools) Brazil (5 schools) Czech Republic (10 schools) United Kingdom (10 schools) for a curriculum based systematic implementation of Global Learning in school realities started 2010

the goals to support and encourage the practice of Global Education in systematic and holistic ways (methods and themes) in different subjects to increase the profile of Global Education in schools

strategy I: curricula level using the possibilities given by the existing curricula: Analyzing the school curricula by highlighting and commenting the best links to integrate Global Education Working out 8 subject crossing Global Education key concepts Diversity, Conflict Resolution, Global Citizenship, Human Rights, Interdependence, Social Justice, Sustainable Development, Values and Perceptions Challenging: combining the key concepts and subjects

strategy II: supporting teachers Teachers are the key actors in implementing Global Education Continously providing them with expertise on Global Education Teacher trainings, team teaching, study visits and material

strategy III: evaluation level Evaluation and documentation of experiences: to originate the Global Curriculum Model and sustainability

What the schools do? Agreement by the headmaster and school partners Nomination of school teams: 1 school coordinator + a team of at least 5 teachers (from different subjects) Regular meetings for planning and reflection about successes and difficulties Regular participation on further education sessions To realize Global Education in daily lessons and projects To provide material within the project Supporting the dissemination and evaluation process
