Students will wrk n individual research prjects and will cllabrate with ther students in their research develpment. Eric Garcia prvided a wnderful synpsis f the APA 6, which can als be accessed via the Oviatt Library website. General guidelines: We will be meeting every week t wrk n yur research prjects. Yu will be expected t cmplete sectins f yur research prject r thesis and bring them t these meetings. Bring a disk, thumb drive, cmplete hard cpy, as well as a printed cpy f the sectins yu ve wrked n. We will be wrking n these during class. Feel free t use yur wn laptp, hwever it is nt mandatry, as we will be wrking in the cmputer lab. We will be using a system f peer-review t evaluate these prjects. At the end f the semester, yu will give an ral (PwerPint) presentatin n yur research. This will be in preparatin fr yur ral defense r as a summary f the prgress yu ve made this semester. In additin, yu will be expected t turn in a cmplete utline fr yur research prpsal, in preparing fr cmprehensive exam; yu ll turn in utlines fr Chapters 1-5, if yu are wrking n yur thesis r prject. IMPORTANT: Dates t be mindful f fr a target f graduatin in 2009: Thesis Binding Deadlines Semester Deadline Spring 2011 May 13, 2011 Summer 2011 ~August 1, 2011 Fall 2011 ~December 18, 2011 Get thesis t yur cmmittee 2 weeks befre defense date - Since the deadline fr binding (Spring grad) is May 7, try t schedule yur defense at the latest the week f April 26 th, remember t check with yur cmmittee t schedule a time fr yur defense. Thesis needs t be checked fr frmat befre thesis binding deadline. This is dne by appintment (MADE BY YOU) at the ffice f graduate studies. PRELIMINARY FORMATTING APPOINTMENTS START MARCH 7 th. Ttal pssible: 170 pts. Attendance and tardiness will als be calculated, based n -10 pints fr each missed class, -2 pints per being late. CLASSROOM POLICIES Assignments are t be turned in at the beginning f the class perid n the day they are due. The penalty fr late assignments is 10% f the ttal pints pssible fr each 24-hur perid that it is late (starting at 4:00 PM n the day it is due and including weekdays that we d nt have class). NO ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED MORE THAN 2 DAYS AFTER THE DUE DATE. Assignments must be wrd prcessed, unless therwise nted. Class attendance and punctuality are mandatry. (Attendance will be taken.)
