INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE PLANNING TO APPLY FOR SETTLEMENT IN THE UK OR NATURALISATION AS A BRITISH CITIZEN People who wish to apply for this need to show that they have knowledge of the English language and of life in the UK. If your English is not of a standard to pass the 'Life in the UK' test, Woking College can help you. However the UK Border Agency has strict rules, so please read this page carefully. You need to have a level of English below Entry Level 3 when you first come for assessment and improve your level of English by at least one level. This is likely to take at least two terms and possibly more. You should show commitment to learning by attending the class regularly and pass a Cambridge ESOL Speaking and Listening exam (held in March each year). This could be at Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2 or Entry Level 3. When you have done this you should request a letter from the Head of Essential Skills using the form provided by the college. Your teacher will complete part of this to confirm that you have progressed by the required standard. There will be a fee of 25 for this letter. Woking College is an accredited college which is inspected by Ofsted. All its Entry level ESOL classes include the specified citizenship materials. A letter to the UK Border Agency will be provided in the required format if you have met all the requirements.
