RAeS NAMED LECTURES RAeS SPONSORSHIP & EXHIBITION PACKAGES CONFERENCES, SEMINARS, DEBATES AND LECTURES

RAeS Named Lectures - Overview The Royal Aeronautical Society s extensive programme of Lectures, aims to spread the knowledge and expertise of the Society s members and staff, and is designed to strengthen its role as a Learned Society. The programme seeks to disseminate knowledge of all things aeronautical to all those working in the aviation/aerospace industry and to the public at large. The highlight of the annual programme is a select number of prestigious Named Lectures. The first Named Lecture, launched in 1911 in honour of Orville and Wilbur Wright has recently celebrated its centenary. Since then, many more have been created to honour distinguished aeronautical pioneers and offer a platform to high-profile speakers representing all sectors of the aeronautical and space community, including academia, industry, the airlines, regulators, service providers and the military. It is regarded as an honour to be invited to deliver one of the Society s Named Lectures. The Brabazon Lecture is held in honour of Lord Brabazon of Tara. Born in London on 8 February 1884, J.T.C. Moore-Brabazon became one of British aviation s true pioneers and, in his political career played an important role in the planning of civil aviation for the years following WW2. The Society organises conferences and lectures each year in order to raise both its profile and that of the global aviation/aerospace industry as an exciting and thriving sector in which to work. As all RAeS Lectures are free to attend, the Society also fulfils its obligations, as a registered charity, to provide public benefits. All its conferences and Named Lectures are recorded with conference proceedings available to conference delegates and lectures available to an international audience through the Society s podcast.... 1
