Dear STEP Applicant/Parent, We are delighted that you are inquiring about the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) Academy at Baruch College. Please review, complete and return the application to the STEP program by Friday, December 22, 2017. Please be sure to include the student, parent, and school agreements, a letter of recommendation, a current transcript, and the personal essay. Admission is competitive and seats are limited. Participants must demonstrate academic potential, interest, and high motivation for learning and continuing education. Academic performance, teacher recommendations, and the personal essay are used to evaluate a student s potential entry into the program. We have three components to our scheduling this semester. Our Middle School students will meet for our pre-high school math/science course in the morning. Our High School program (grades 9-12) includes three periods (math, science, elective). Interested juniors that wish to apply for our Kaplan Scholars program, please visit our website for that application. Program Eligibility To be an eligible applicant to STEP, you must: be a middle or high school student in grades 7-12 submit a completed application have an 80 average in Math, Science, and English have an 80 cumulative average be a resident of New York State identify as African American, Latino, Native American Indians or Alaskan Natives, OR meet state-determined economic criteria below: A student is considered economically disadvantaged if: a student s household income needs to be less than or equal to the income levels indicated below.
