Gulf Coast Chapter An Air & Waste Management Association Scholarship Application for Entering, Currently Enrolled, and Transfer Students Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than May 25, 2007 The Air & Waste Management Association is an independent, non-profit organization which raises and manages private gifts to benefit and promote environmental studies. The was created to provide scholarships to students who are interested in pursuing a career in an environmental science related field. Applicants will be considered for multi-year scholarships. All students must be admitted to a Texas University to receive the award and must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward a environmental science degree for continuation of the scholarship each year. Application Deadline All applications must be received by the Air & Waste Management Association or postmarked no later than May 25, 2007. Application Procedure Students who are incoming Freshmen in the fall of 2007 should submit the following: A completed application form, SIGNED and DATED. An official High School transcript that includes completed courses through the spring of 2007 must be sent to the AWMA. Please be sure to include ACT/SAT scores if taken. Letters of recommendation are not required but welcome. Please limit to no more than three. Students who will be enrolled (not to include incoming freshmen) in the fall of 2007 should submit the following: A completed application form, SIGNED and DATED. An official University transcript that includes completed courses through the spring of 2007 must be sent to the AWMA. If you have transferred or are transferring more than 15 semester hours to the University, please provide an official transcript from all institutions previously attended. Letters of recommendation are not required but welcome. Please limit to no more than three. Selection Criteria All of the following selection criteria must be met to be considered by the Air & Waste Management Association: Student Major must be Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, or another Environmental Related Major Student must be enrolling as a new student, current student, or transfer student in the Fall of 2007. Student must have a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT score of 1150. Student must be enrolled/enrolling for a minimum of 12 hours and maintain this full-time status throughout the semester and subsequent semesters. Entering Freshmen must be ranked in the top 15% of their class. The Grade Point Average for current students and transfer students must cumulatively be 3.00. Student must demonstrate leadership potential and participation in student and/or civic organizations and take an active role in their communities (provide information in the appropriate space below). Student must have an interest in pursuing a career in the environmental science or related field.
