For this assignment, you will create your own performance management plan that includes answers to the following questions: Describe how learning and management strategies impact strategic performance management processes? How would you describe your company and employees? For example, what products or services does your company offer, and what tasks do your employees complete? How will you assess employees? (For example, will you use performance appraisals? Will you rank employees?) How will you provide feedback? What type of feedback will you provide? How will you reward the top employees? How will you handle low-performing employees? MHR 6551, Training and Development 3

For each of the above bullets, explain how you will address that aspect of the performance management plan using details and examples. You will complete your plan using a template. Please open the template, complete your assignment and save the document, and then submit it. To access the template for this assignment, click here. Within the template, please use complete sentences. Each explanation should be one to two paragraphs in length. Outside sources are not a requirement for this assignment. However, if you choose to use them, please cite and reference according to APA standards. Unit VI PowerPoint Presentation You have been asked to create a PowerPoint presentation on career development for executives at an organization you currently work for or an organization you wish to work for in the future. In your presentation, you will explain how your organization can foster career development of its employees as well as how you will keep employees motivated. All sources used, including the required readings, must be cited and referenced according to APA guidelines. Unit VII Scholarly Activity Leadership Training Program Congratulations! Your boss has just given you the task of helping organize a training for new leaders entering your organization. She mentioned that you will be expecting 10 new employees for the training, and she wants you to be in charge of preparing them for their new roles in leadership. She also added that she hopes you can show them that leadership is more than just management. Based on what you have learned so far in our course, create a training that will help the new leaders understand the difference between leadership and management. Additionally, you will help develop their leadership skills and explain why leadership is important in the organization. Describe at least two exercises you could implement that could help the new leaders develop leadership competencies. Include in your description each training method that you will use (computer-based, traditional, and/or e-learning) and the reason why you chose this method. Also, include what you hope the new leaders will learn from this training. Remember, these new employees are part of the future of your company. Getting them excited from the start about their new leadership roles will have positive effects. Your scholarly activity should be a minimum of three full pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. You must use at least one outside resource, which could include a required reading article, or any useful resource you find. Regardless of which you choose to include, any and all must have accompanying APA citations. MHR 6551, Training and Development 4

Unit VIII Research Paper For the final assignment of this course, you will write a research paper on change in a human resource development (HRD) organization that you work for, or would like to work for. Within your research paper, explain how the following tasks can be accomplished at your chosen organization using competency or case-based decision making training methods: 1. improve productivity (efficiency and effectiveness), 2. improve employee satisfaction with the quality of their work life, 3. improve the ability of the organization to revitalize and develop itself over time, 4. improve organizational processes and outputs, and 5. measure if your improvement efforts are successful. In your explanation, do not simply state your opinion. Include researched evidence to show why your strategies and approaches will be effective. Your research paper must be at least three pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. You are required to use at least two outside sources; one must be from the CSU Online Library. All sources used, including the required readings, must be cited and referenced according to APA guidelines. APA Guidelines The application of the APA writing style shall be practical, functional, and appropriate to each academic level, with the primary purpose being the documentation (citation) of sources. CSU requires that students use APA style for certain papers and projects. Students should always carefully read and follow assignment directions and review the associated grading rubric when available. Students can find CSU s Citation Guide by clicking here. This document includes examples and sample papers and provides information on how to contact the CSU Success Center. Grading Rubrics This course utilizes analytic grading rubrics as tools for your professor in assigning grades for all learning activities. Each rubric serves as a guide that communicates the expectations of the learning activity and describes the criteria for each level of achievement. In addition, a rubric is a reference tool that lists evaluation criteria and can help you organize your efforts to meet the requirements of that learning activity. It is imperative for you to familiarize yourself with these rubrics because these are the primary tools your professor uses for assessing learning activities. Rubric categories include: (1) Discussion Board, (2) Assessment (Written Response), and (3) Assignment. However, it is possible that not all of the listed rubric types will be used in a single course (e.g., some courses may not have Assessments). The Discussion Board rubric can be found within Unit I s Discussion Board submission instructions. The Assessment (Written Response) rubric can be found embedded in a link within the directions for each Unit Assessment. However, these rubrics will only be used when written-response questions appear within the Assessment. Each Assignment type (e.g., article critique, case study, research paper) will have its own rubric. The Assignment rubrics are built into Blackboard, allowing students to review them prior to beginning the Assignment and again once the Assignment has been scored. This rubric can be accessed via the Assignment link located within the unit where it is to be submitted. Students may also access the rubric through the course menu by selecting Tools and then My Grades. Again, it is vitally important for you to become familiar with these rubrics because their application to your Discussion Boards, Assessments, and Assignments is the method by which your instructor assigns all grades. MHR 6551, Training and Development 5

Communication Forums These are non-graded discussion forums that allow you to communicate with your professor and other students. Participation in these discussion forums is encouraged, but not required. You can access these forums with the buttons in the Course Menu. Instructions for subscribing/unsubscribing to these forums are provided below. Click here for instructions on how to subscribe/unsubscribe and post to the Communication Forums. Ask the Professor This communication forum provides you with an opportunity to ask your professor general or course content questions. Questions may focus on Blackboard locations of online course components, textbook or course content elaboration, additional guidance on assessment requirements, or general advice from other students. Questions that are specific in nature, such as inquiries regarding assessment/assignment grades or personal accommodation requests, are NOT to be posted on this forum. If you have questions, comments, or concerns of a nonpublic nature, please feel free to email your professor. Responses to your post will be addressed or emailed by the professor within 48 hours. Before posting, please ensure that you have read all relevant course documentation, including the syllabus, assessment/assignment instructions, faculty feedback, and other important information. Student Break Room This communication forum allows for casual conversation with your classmates. Communication on this forum should always maintain a standard of appropriateness and respect for your fellow classmates. This forum should NOT be used to share assessment answers.
