History of the city Landshut Founded by Duke Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1204, Landshut remained the main seat of the House of Wittelsbach until 1255. Under the reign of the Rich Dukes Landshut witnessed a glorious period from 1393 to 1503, when it was the seat of government of the dukedom of Bavaria-Landshut. Every four years: the greatest European historic festival of the "Royal Wedding" = "Landshuter Hochzeit, where nearly 2.000 citizens of Landshut celebrate when the duke "Herzog Georg der Reiche" married the Polish King s daughter Hedwig in 1475.
