GIRLS CRICKET STARTS IN TERM 4 Register now or in September Girls love playing cricket they enjoy making friends with new girls their own age, they love learning new skills, they thrive in being part of a team and they pick up the great values that the game can teach. Fortunately, we have enough girls playing that we do have several girls only grades. St Albans Cricket Club has more females playing cricket than any other club in Christchurch. We currently have 3 women in the NZ team more than any other club in NZ and we have plenty of younger girls as well. We really value and look after our females! Our registrations open in September but you can register early if you wish. Ideally we are looking for girls in year 4-8 to play cricket. Sisters can usually be in the same team, as can friends. Season starts mid-october (after school holidays) but registrations are open from now to September. The season lasts till the end of March and we stop over the Xmas school holidays. Games are Saturday morning 9-12. These are usually played at Hagley Park. All players guaranteed to bat and bowl each week. Grades there are 3 girls only grades at the junior level (1. Room 6 are super proud of their classmate, Caleb for performing in the talent quest. In Term 2, Room 6 gained a lot of understanding about the Science topic flight. We are now able to explain information relating to it. We are pleased to hear comments that our assembly items are enjoyed. We know that as a class it takes everyone to work together on participating and contributing together to achieve that enjoyment we give our audience, for the glory of our Lord. 6
Swimming at Graham Condon Recreation & Sports Centre provided Room 6 with fantastic swimming skills and survival challenges, while having fun in a different learning environment. Cycle Safety was a huge success for all Room 6 s, Year 6 students as they gained an understanding of cycling correctly and confidently so that they can accomplish riding on the road safely. Wearing safe helmets, riding a road worthy bike, checking to the left or right, signalling and being aware of the dangers on the road were some aspects of their learning. Also, a visit from a police officer to make them aware of the road rules, why we have them, as well as specific rules for cyclists. 7
Photographs by Zachariah, room 6 Social Science: Economic World, has now got Room 6 buzzing with ideas as their roles and responsibilities are taking place to help make the Olympic Day a success. Can you find France?... what about Brazil 8
