Old houses in Angers ANGERS Typical French city Quality of life and cultural heritage Located in the Loire valley, a UNESCO world heritage site, Angers is a city of 160 000 residents famous for its quality of life. Capital of the old Anjou province, the 16th largest town in France, Angers is a young and dynamic city ( 000 students). It offers a variety of cultural and touristic activities in an environment which includes many green spaces, a great transportation network and numerous bicycle paths. TESTIMONY Mariama TOURÉ, Guinean student Angers is a middle-sized town where everything is nearby. It s calm and pleasant to live in. There is no stress or delinquency. This is a student town with a lot of parks like the Jardin des Plantes. It s great to rest and breathe there when you are a student. I love sport and there is much to do here in Angers! CIDEF made it easy for me to study French and to find the confidence to talk with local people. At CIDEF, I discover new things every day and I learn a lot. It s a great experience. TESTIMONY Daiki ISE, Japanese student Life in Angers was wonderful. People are very nice and kind. I went out with international friends I met at CIDEF. We went to bars, we organized picnics near the river. We had great moments together. At CIDEF, the classes are very varied, the teachers are very nice: it s the ideal place to learn French. The BEC offers plenty of options to meet French people and the university events are very numerous. Personally, I played football with the university team and that was great! At one point it was a foreign city, but now I feel as if I am at home. I have a French house with a French family and thanks to CIDEF I also have friends that come from all over the world. CIDEF gave me the opportunity to not only learn the French language and culture, but also to discover many other cultures. When I return to the United States, I know that my life is going to change because I am returning with more experience and more knowledge of the exterior world. France helped me to decide what I want to do after I finish my studies. For this, and all the other treasures that I found in Angers and at CIDEF, I must thank all who were a part of this experience, the best experience of my life.» Maine river in Angers 7

Thanks to CIDEF and BEC, I had plenty of opportunities to meet French people, to explore this wonderful country and to better understand the language. I had the opportunity to taste a lot of different typical dishes and to discover more than a thousand impressive buildings and monuments. Actually the people offered me my best memories. Before arriving, I had simple wishes: I wanted to improve my French but in fact I ll come back home with new friends and with unforgettable memories. Don t be shy! Speak with French people! Go and meet French high school kids to share your language and culture with them and to discover their point of view! Travel in unknown cities, to Paris and in Europe if you are lucky, one or two counties in Europe if you can. Don t forget to discover the other cultures!
