January, 2018 Dear Saint Peter Families, Happy New Year! Thanks to all of you for your generous response to our Christmas Wishing Tree drive for Saint Gregory s Food Pantry. We helped many families to have a very happy Christmas. God bless our efforts to share His many blessings. During the winter, soup becomes an important item at Saint Gregory s. In the next few weeks, a campaign called SOUP FOR THE SUPER BOWL calls our attention to a real need in a fun way. Can you donate soup in cans or packages to help us spread some warmth to others in our community? Each class will be collecting soup from now through January 31. All donations are appreciated. FACTS On-Line Application FACTS TUITION ASSISTANCE In order to be considered in Round 1 applications must be complete by March 2, 2018. The deadline for Round 2 is May 18, 2018. In order to be considered for tuition assistance at all, you MUST apply for FACTS, no exceptions.

You are invited to dress as your favorite book character on Wednesday, January 31st. All students who participate will be asked to send in a $1.00 donation that will be used to support The Bridge of Books Foundation. If you would like to participate, please return the bottom portion of this form by Tuesday, January 30th to your teacher. Catholic Schools Week 2018 Date: January 28, - February 2, 2018 Catholic Schools: Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed. This year we are sponsoring a book drive benefiting, The Bridge of Books Foundation. Donations of new children s books for babies through high school will be collected in your child s homeroom and the front office from January 2nd to February 2nd. Sunday, January 28, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Parish Please join us as we begin Catholic Schools Week with a family liturgy at 12 o clock. Our students will show appreciation to parishioners and parents. Open House following the Mass from 1-2 PM at St. Peter School. All families are invited! Monday, January 29, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Community Open house will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Invite a friend and come see our Saints at work! Tuesday, January 30, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Students It s Carnival Day for all students! All students should wear their gym uniform and have a great time!! Wednesday, January 31, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Nation Our students will gather for a patriotic prayer service led by the student council. All Scouts should wear their uniforms to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. The band will play patriotic songs, and the Singing Saints will also honor our nation with their voices. St. Peter students are welcome to dress as their favorite book character. All students who participate will be asked for a $1.00 donation that will be used to support The Bridge of Books Foundation and those in need in our community. Thursday, February 1, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Vocations Our Sisters of St. Joseph and Franciscan Friars will join the students throughout the day to share their vocation stories. Friday, February 2, 2018 Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed: In Our Faculty, Staff & Volunteers There will be a liturgy at 8:30 in the church, please join us in celebration. In accordance with our Catholic Identity and rooted in Gospel values, it is the mission of Saint Peter School to provide a community of faith in which students will develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

PTA NEWS REMINDER The General PTA meeting will be held on Monday, JANUARY 22 ND at 7:00 p.m.in the cafeteria. *At least one member from each family is required to attend. If you are unable to attend please call the office before Monday.

SPS Carnival Day 2018 Tuesday, January 30th We are in need of your small or medium (clean & gently used) stuffed animals that your child no longer needs for the ever so popular Carnival Wheel You can either drop them off after school at pickup with me or contact Lynn D Angelo If any parent can suggest different Carnival games and/or donate them, the kids would greatly appreciate it. SPS Carnival Day 2018 Tuesday, January 30th Carnival Day is held by the PTA to help celebrate CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK. There will be fun games and special activities such as: spin art, tattoos, nail painting, face painting, jewelry engraving, and so much more. Some games are free and others will range from 10 to 50. Children may wear their gym uniforms on this day. Photos of your child with a 2018 carnival setting will be available for 50 and sent home the following day. Please note this on your envelope when sending in money for your child. As this event is not a fundraiser, all profits will be used to improve the Carnival next year. We can use donations of various kinds of treats for the kids. Below are some suggestions: Grade K 4 th Un-iced cupcakes, icing, cupcake decorations or cookies Grade 5 8 th 2 liter bottles of soda (send into school marked Carnival ) Cupcakes and cookies can be dropped off in the cafeteria on Monday, January 29th after school or on Carnival Day by 8 a.m. LUNCH Pizza will be available for lunch (using pre-order form) for $3. Each meal includes a slice of pizza, beverage, and a snack. If your child would like to have an additional slice, please add another $1. There will also be concession snacks such as snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, churros, pretzels, soda, and cupcakes ranging up to $1.00 each. The pizza is pre-ordered so please have your orders in by Wednesday, January 24th

If your child is NOT ordering the pizza lunch, please send in a lunch for your child since there will be no lunch service from the Green Apron Café on this day.
