The interested candidates are instructed to follow the following information: General Information: 1. Specialities: a. FCPS Part I, Preliminary FCPS Part II, FCPS Part II ( Final ) and FCPS ( Final ) examinations in the following specialities of BCPS will be held in Dhaka in the first week of January, 2011. General subjects : Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obst. & Gynae, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Radiology & Imaging, Radiotherapy, Dermatology & Venereology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Haematology, Biochemistry, Histopathology, Microbiology, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, al and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, thodontics & Dentofacial thopedics,transfusion Medicine and Family Medicine. Specialized subjects : Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Hepatology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease & Tropical Medicine, Urology, Neuro-surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery,Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, thopaedic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Neonatology, Paediatric Haematology & Oncology, Paediatric Nephrology, Paediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition and Paediatric Pulmonology. b. MCPS examination will also be held in the following subjects at the same time and venue :- Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obst. & Gynae, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Radiology & Imaging, Radiotherapy, Dermatology & Venereology, Dental surgery, Forensic Medicine, Family Medicine and Clinical Pathology. 2. Enrolment Fees: (For those who have no Enrolment Number with BCPS) a. FCPS Part-I: Tk. 600/- only. b. FCPS Part-II, Preli FCPS Part-II (Final), FCPS (Final) and MCPS: Tk 1000/- only. 3. Enrolment Procedure: All types of candidates are instructed to collect Enrolment form along with OMR form from the cash section of BCPS on payment of Enrolment fees and submit the same duly filled in by 15 November, 2010 and collect the PEN/ SEN/ MEN Card (those who submit form before 30 October will get Card from 16-25 November and those who submit enrolment form from 1-15 November will get Card from 25-30 November if eligible). 4. Last Date for enrolment for the examination to be held in January 2011 is 15 November, 2010. 5. Examinations Fees: (After getting the enrolment card) a. FCPS Part-I: Tk. 5000/- only. b. FCPS Part-II, Preli FCPS Part-II, FCPS and MCPS: Tk 7000/- only. 6. Procedure for submission of Examination fees: Candidates will have to deposit their fees into the College SB Account No. 8748-6 maintained with Agrani Bank, ICDDRB Branch, Mohakhali, Dhaka They will have to deposit their fees by pay order/demand draft in favour of The Secretary, BCPS from any schedule bank.(in that case the candidate have to send a photocopy of his PEN/SEN/MEN card along with the pay order/demand draft). 7. Last Date for submission of examination fees is 30 November, 2010. 1

8. All candidates are instructed to write the name as directed and PEN/SEN/MEN opposite of Bank Deposit Slip and submit the College part of Bank Deposit Slip at the cash section of BCPS on or before 30 November, 2010 after submitting the examinations fees in the bank. Who fails to submit the College part of Bank Deposit Slip within 30 November, 2010 will not be eligible for the said examinations. Specific Information: A. For FCPS Part-I Examination: 1. Rules for eligibility: Candidates having full registration with BMDC are eligible to appear in FCPS Part-I examination. Going through the organized course in any institution is not compulsory. Candidates going through an organized course in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka or any other Institute recognized by the BCPS for the purpose must submit their enrolment forms through the Head of the concerned Institute. 2. Documents have to be submitted during submission of the enrolment form : a. Attested photocopy of MBBS/BDS Certificate b. Attested photocopy of the marks sheet of Final proof of MBBS/BDS examination. c. Attested photocopy of BMDC Permanent registration Certificate d. Money receipt of Tk 600/- only as enrolment fees. e. 2 copies PP size recent coloured photos as directed in the form. 3. Documents have to be submitted after the submission of examination fees by 30 November, 2010: a. The College part of Bank deposit slip of examination fee mentioning the name as directed and PEN at the opposite of the slip without fail. N. B. :- (1) The FCPS I candidates who will opt for general subjects and qualify will be allowed to switch over to specialized subjects of relevant general subjects. This decision of switch over is to be informed to the College within one year from passing FCPS I. (2) The FCPS I candidates who will opt for specialized subjects and qualify will not be allowed to switch over to relevant general subjects. B. For Preliminary FCPS Part-II Examination: 1. Rules for eligibility: (a) The candidates have to pass FCPS I examination from BCPS in relevant specialized subject. (b) Completion of two years training in relevant general subject in an Institute recognized by BCPS (As per proforma of the College). Alternatively one and half year training in the relevant general subject and six months in a relevant speciality of the general subjects (except the speciality in which the candidate has passed FCPS I ). 2. Documents have to be submitted during the submission of enrolment form b. Attested photocopy of MBBS/BDS Certificate c. Attested photocopy of BMDC Permanent registration Certificate d. Money receipt of Tk 1000/- only as enrolment fees e. 2 copies PP size recent colour photos as directed in the form. f. Certificate to the effect that he/she has passed FCPS Part I examination in specialized subjects from BCPS. g. Two years training certificate (original) from the trainer (Professor/Associate Professor/Consultant) under whom the candidate has received training in relevant general subject (As per proforma of the College) duly countersigned by the Head of the Institute/hospital. h. Completed logbook of training (Entire training period is to be logged into the logbook). 3. Documents have to be submitted after the submission of examination fees by 30 November, 2010: a. The College part of Bank deposit slip of examination fee mentioning the name as directed and SEN at the opposite of the slip without fail. 2

C. For FCPS Part-II (Final) Examination in general subjects: I. 1. Documents have to be submitted during submission of enrolment form:- a. Attested photocopy of MBBS/BDS Certificate b. Attested photocopy of BMDC Permanent registration Certificate c. Money receipt of Tk 1000/- only as enrolment fees. d. 2 copies PP size recent colour photos as directed in the form. e. Document of passing FCPS-I examination. f. The completed log book of training in respective speciality (Entire training period is to be Logged into the logbook). g. Requisite training Certificates (iginal) as mentioned at the later part of this notification and as per proforma of the College. 2. Documents have to be submitted after submission of examination fees by 30 November, 2010: a. The College part of Bank deposit slip of examination fee mentioning the name as directed and SEN at the opposite of the slip without fail. 4. Rules for eligibility: I. (a) Certificate to the effect that he/she has passed FCPS Part I Examination from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons or he/she has passed FCPS - I Examination from College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). (b) Certificate that he/she has passed MD/ MS Examination from Dhaka University, BSMMU and MRCP, FRCS and FRCA Examination from the Royal Colleges of U.K. Note:- MD/MS in specialized subjects will not be allowed to appear in relevant general subjects. II. iginal residency training certificate from the trainer eg. Professor/ Associate Professor/Consultant (as per proforma of the college) duly countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS where the candidate undergone training. Candidates who have passed FCPS Part 1 before January 2005 will require certificates of:- a) Two years residency training. b) One year organized course Three years residency training of which one year residency training must be after FCPS Part I III ) Training Format :- III-A c) Candidates having MRCP (UK), FRCS and FRCA from Royal Colleges of UK (before January 2005) will require 3 years training of which one year residency training must be after having those qualifications. d) Candidates having MD, MS, from D.U. and BSMMU (before January, 2005) will require 03 years training as mentioned in II (a) and (b). Three years training Programme: Candidates who have passed FCPS Part 1 before January 2005 will require certificates of: i) Two years residency training in the subject One year organized course a) Medicine (With Course): i. Two years residency training in Internal Medicine One & a half year residency training in internal medicine & six months in any one of the sub-specialities like: 1) Cardiology, 2) Nephrology, (3) Gastroenterology, (4) Neuro- Medicine, (5) Hepatology, (6) Endocrinology & Metabolism, (7) Pulmonology and (8) Rheumatology. One year residency training in internal medicine and one year residency training in any of the two sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned above 3

ii. a) Medicine (without course) : One year organized Academic Course. Three years residency training in Internal Medicine of which one year must be after passing FCPS Part I Two & a half years residency training in internal medicine and six months in any of the subspecialty as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS I Two years residency training in internal medicine and one year residency training in any two of the sub-specialities (six month in each one) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which one year residency training must be after FCPS Part I. IIIA. b) For Surgery (With course):- i) Two years residency training in general surgery One and a half years residency training in general surgery and six months residency training in any of the sub-specialities like (1) thopaedic Surgery, (2) Traumatology (Casualty training in DMC and SSMC), (3) Urology, (4) Neuro-surgery, (5) Plastic Surgery, (6) Paediatric Surgery, (7) Cardio- Vascular Surgery, ( 8) Thoracic Surgery and ( 9) Colo-rectal Surgery. One year organized Academic course b) Surgery (without course) ;- i) Three years residency training in general surgery of which one year must be after passing FCPS I. Two and a half years residency training in general surgery and six months residency training in any one of the sub-specialties as mentioned in clause IIIAb (i) of which one year residency training must be after passing FCPS Part 1. c) For the remaining subjects (With Course): Exceptions :- i) Two years residency Training in respective subjects One year organized Academic Course. 1. In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation : i) Two years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. a) One and half years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation b) Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic- Surgery/Neurology/Neuro-Surgery/Obst. & Gynae/Paediatrics One year organized Academic Course. 2. In case of Dermatology & Venereology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (Compulsory) One year residency training in Dermatology & Venereology DDV Qualified Candidates from the university recognized by BMDC will get six months training exemption from the total part of training in Dermatology & Venereology. i One year organized Academic Course. 4

3. In case of Anaesthesiology : DA qualified candidates from any university recognized by BMDC will get one year training exemption from the total three years training in Anaesthesiology 4. In case of Haematology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (Compulsory) One year residency training in Haematology i One year organized Academic Course. d) For the remaining subjects ( without course ) :- Three years residency training in respective subject of which one year residency training must be after passing FCPS - I Exceptions :- 1. In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation: i) Three years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Two and half years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic- Surgery/Neurology/Neuro-Surgery/Obst. & Gynae/Paediatrics. Out of this three years residency training total one year residency training must be after FCPS - I 2. In case of Dermatology & Venereology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (Compulsory) Two years residency training in Dermatology & Venereology. Out of this three years residency training total one year residency training must be after FCPS - I DDV Qualified Candidates from the university recognized by BMDC will get six months training exemption from the total part of training in Dermatology & Venereology 3. In case of Anaesthesiology : DA qualified candidates from any university recognized by BMDC will get one year training exemption from the total three years training in Anaesthesiology 4. In case of Haematology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (Compulsory) Two years residency training in Haematology. Out of this three years residency training in total one year residency training must be after FCPS I. III-B Four years training programme :- Candidates who have passed FCPS Part I from January 2005 onwards will require certificates of :- a) Three years residency training in the subject of which one year must be after FCPS I. b) One year organized Academic course Four years residency training in the subject of which two years must be after passing FCPS I c) Out of 04 years training, candidates having MRCP, FRCS, FRCA from the Royal Colleges of UK (from January 2005 onwards) will require two years and MD/MS of DU, BSMMU (from January 2005 onwards) will require one year training after having those qualifications. 5

a) For Medicine ( with course ):- i) Three years residency training in Internal Medicine of which one year residency training must be after FCPS - I Two & a half years residency training in Internal Medicine & six months residency training in any one of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which one year residency training must be after FCPS - I Two years residency training in Internal medicine and one year residency training in any of the two of the sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIA (i) of which one year residency training must be after FCPS I. One and a half years residency training in Internal Medicine and one and a half years residency training in any of the three sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which one year residency training must be after FCPS I. One year organized Academic course. a) Medicine (without course) Four years residency training in Internal Medicine of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS Part I. Three & a half years residency training in Internal Medicine and six months in any of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS Part I. Three years residency training in Internal Medicine and one year residency training in any two of the sub-specialities (six month in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which two years residency training must be after FCPS Part I. Two and a half years residency training in Internal Medicine and one and a half years residency training in any three of the sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS - I.. Two years residency training in Internal Medicine and two years residency training in any of the four sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS Part I. b) For Surgery (with course) :- i) Three years residency training in general surgery including Traumatology or thopaedic Surgery of which one year residency training must be after passing FCPS Part 1. Two and a half years residency training in general surgery and six months in thopaedic Surgery or Traumatology as mentioned in clause IIIAb (i) of which one year residency training must be after passing FCPS Part 1 Two years residency training in general surgery and one year residency training in any of the sub-specialties as mentioned in clause IIIAb (i) including six months in Traumatology or thopaedic Surgery of which one year residency training must be after passing FCPS I. One year organized Academic Course. 6

b) Surgery (without course) :- i) Four years residency training in General Surgery including Traumatology or thopaedic Surgery of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS Part I. Three and a half years residency training in General Surgery and six months residency training in thopaedic Surgery/ Traumatology ( Casualty training of DMCH & SSMCH) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS Part I. Three years residency training in General Surgery, six months residency training in thopaedic Surgery/Traumatology and remaining six months residency training in any of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause IIIAb (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS I. Two and a half years residency training in General Surgery, six months residency training in thopaedic Surgery/Traumatology and remaining one year residency training in any two of the sub-specialites as mentioned in clause IIIAb (i) of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS I. c) For the remaining subjects (with course): Exceptions :- i) Three years residency training in respective subject of which one year must be after FCPS I. One year organized Academic Course. 1. In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation i) Two & half years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic Surgery/Neurology/ Neuro Surgery/Obst. & Gynae/Paediatrics. Out of the total three years residency training one year must be after FCPS I. One year Academic course. 2. In case of Dermatology & Venereology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (compulsory ) Two years residency training in Dermatology & Venereology. Out of this total three years residency training one year must be after FCPS I. i One year Academic course. 3. In case of Anaesthesiology DA qualified candidates from any university recognized by BMDC will get one year training exemption from the total four years training in Anaesthesiology. 4. In case of Haematology i) One year residency training in Internal Medicine ( compulsory ) Two years residency training in Haematology. Out of this total three years residency training one year residency training must be after FCPS I. i One year Academic course. d) For the remaining subjects (without course) : Four years residency training in respective subject of which two years residency training must be after passing FCPS I. 7

Exceptions :- 1. In case of Haematology IV. j) One year residency training in Internal Medicine (Compulsory) Three years residency training in Haematology. Out of this four years training two years must be after passing FCPS I. (a) Dissertation (three hard copies & one soft copy) : The dissertation in respect of Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry or Dermatology and Venereology shall include at least 3 illustrative case notes related to the subject. All dissertations must be submitted at least 3 months before the date of examination (for the candidates who passed FCPS-I examination before July, 2010). An attested copy of the letter showing that his/her dissertation has been accepted by the College must be submitted. (b) The candidates who passed FCPS-I in July, 2010 and onward will have to submit the dissertation protocol atleast 1 year and 6 months before the targeted exam. They have to submit the dissertation atleast 6 months before the exam (as on 30 June for January exam and 30 December for July examination) N.B. :- a) Acceptance of dissertation will be considered as a prerequisite for appearing in the examination. b) Dissertation/Thesis which is already accepted for a post-graduate qualification will not be considered. c) Requisite residency training and academic course must be completed on or before 31 December, 2010. During submission of enrolment form the candidate will have to submit training/ course certificate to the effect that his/her training / course will be completed on 31 December, 2010. (For the candidates whose training/course will be completed on 31 December, 2010 ). V. For candidates appearing in Surgery/Obst. & Gynae/Ophthalmology/Otolaryngology who completed training before introduction of Logbook will have to submit a list of 100 operations performed/assisted by the candidate (as per proforma of the College) duly signed by the trainer & Countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. Out of 100 operations 25 should be major. VI For candidates appearing in Anaesthesiology must submit a Certificate of administering of at least 500 cases of General Anaesthesia by the candidate duly signed by trainer & countersigned by Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. a detailed list ( in duplicate) of at least 100 case of General Anaesthesia administered by the candidate of which 50 of major operations singed by the trainer & countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. D. For FCPS (Final) Examination in the Specialized Subjects: Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Hepatology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease & Tropical Medicine, Urology, Neuro-surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, thopaedic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Neonatology, Paediatric Haematology & Oncology, Paediatric Nephrology, Paediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition and Paediatric Pulmonology. 8

1. Rules for eligibility: i) Those who have passed FCPS Part - I examination in the relevant specialty and Preliminary FCPS II examination in relevant general subject or FCPS in parent subjects or MD/MS ( D. U./ BSMMU ) in relevant specialties. (a) Those who have successfully completed required period of training ( 3-5 years ) in relevant Surgical sub-speciality from the hospitals/institutions recognized by BCPS ( iginal certificate and as per proforma of the College). Out of 3-5 years training 2-4 years training must be taken after passing FCPS-I and preliminary FCPS-II exam. (b) Those who have successfully completed 03 years training in relevant sub-speciality of Medicine and Paediatrics from the hospital/institute recognized by BCPS. (iginal certificate and as per proforma of BCPS). Out of 03 years training, 02 years training must be taken after passing FCPS I examination and preliminary FCPS II examination. Remaining one year training may be taken before passing Preliminary FCPS II examination. i (a) Candidates having FCPS in parent relevant subjects and MD, MS in relevant speciality (D.U./ BSMMU) will directly enter into speciality training (i.e. they will get exemption from appearing in FCPS I and Preliminary FCPS II examination). iv) (b) Those who have completed 3-5 years training in relevant surgical speciality and 3 years training in relevant Medicine and Paediatric sub-speciality after passing FCPS in parent subjects and MD/MS (D.U./BSMMU) in relevant speciality. (a) A dissertation / thesis prepared during the specialty training period and accepted by the appropriate authority recognized by BCPS. The dissertation/thesis will need to be defended by the candidate and to be passed. Dissertation/Thesis is to be submitted at least 3 months before the date of examination (For the candidates who passed FCPS-I examination before July, 2010). A soft copy of dissertation/thesis must be submitted along with 3 hard copies. (b) The candidates who passed FCPS-I in July, 2010 and onward will have to submit the dissertation/thesis protocol atleast 1 year and 6 months before the targeted exam. They have to submit the dissertation/thesis atleast 6 months before the exam (as on 30 June for January exam and 30 December for July examination) 2. Documents have to be submitted during the submission of enrolment form a. Attested photocopy of MBBS/BDS Certificate b. Attested photocopy of BMDC Permanent registration Certificate c. Money receipt of Tk 1000/- only as Enrolment fees d. 2 copies PP size recent colour photos as directed in the form. e. Document of passing FCPS-I examination or equivalent. f. Document of passing Preli-FCPS-II examination in the parent subject. g. The completed log book of training in respective speciality ( Entire period of training is to be Logged into the logbook). h. Training Certificates (iginal and as per proforma of the College). 3. Documents have to be submitted after submission of examination fees by 30 November, 2010: a. The College part of examination fee deposit slip mentioning the name as directed and SEN at the opposite of the slip without fail. N. B. :- (1) Dissertation/Thesis which is already accepted for a post-graduate qualification will not be considered. (2) The candidates having M.D., M.S.( D.U., BSMMU) in general subjects will also be allowed to appear in relevant specialized subjects if other requirements are fulfilled. For MCPS Examination: 1. Rules for eligibility: A candidate must have completed at least 4 years after graduation. This must include one year residency training in his/her own specialty in a recognized Unit/Hospital. iginal certificate of this one-year training must be submitted. 9

Documents have to be submitted after submission of examination fees by 30 November, 2010: NOTE :- a. The College part of Bank deposit slip of examination fee mentioning the name as directed and MEN at the opposite of the slip without fail. 1. A certificate of training for a period of less than 6 months at a time will not be accepted. 2. Last date for submission of application for withdrawal of candidature is 07-12-2010. 3.
