Duke University School of Nursing Matriculation Planning Student Training Log on to PeopleSoft (ACES) using your NetID and Password From your Student Center, click on the Future Plans tab At the next screen, click on the Long Range Plan tab. 1
You should see the following screen. If you have technical questions related to completing the Long Range Plan, please contact the Office of Admissions and Student Services (SONstudentservices@duke.edu) or at 919-684-4248. After reading the instructions; begin the Academic Interest Inventory by clicking on the link for Task 1. When you have completed the inventory, save it by clicking on the green save button. 2
This will return you to the Long Range Plan Task List. Note that the Status of Task 1 has changed to show you the date that you completed the Academic Interest Inventory. To review the academic requirements for the degree you are seeking, click on the Sample Matriculation Plans hyperlink. This will take you to the Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) website s Academic Advising Sample Matriculation Plans page. Scroll down to locate and select the matriculation plan for your degree and specialty (if applicable). Note that on the right hand side of the web page there are links to other pages that may be of use in planning your future courses. For example, the Master Course Listing shows all courses, the semester in which they are offered, and the mode (on campus, on-line or distance) in which they are offered. Your next step is to add courses to your planner. To begin, click on the link in Task 3: Add courses to My Planner. 3
Click on the Browser Course Catalog button to start adding courses to your planner At the next screen, select N. Scroll down the page and click on Nursing. A list of all courses offered at the Duke University School of Nursing will appear. The courses which you are eligible to take will have a check box located to their left. Select courses by putting checks in the boxes. Scroll down and click on the Click on the Add to Planner button. DISREGARD the semesters listed under typically offered. Rather, consult the Master Course Listing on the Advising web page. Continue adding courses to your planner until all the courses for your mat plan have been added. A green message box will appear that shows which courses have been successfully added. Click on the My Planner tab at the top of the page. 1. Select courses from the Unassigned Courses list by placing a check next to them. 4
2. Select the correct term for the courses on the drop down menu next to Move selected courses to Term. 3. Click on the move button. 2 1 3 When you are finished adding all the courses you need for your matriculation plan to the Planner, click on the Long Range Plan tab at the top of the screen. This will take you back to the task list. Note that the status of Task 3, Add Courses to My Planner, has changed to the current date. Each time you update your planner, the date will change. Click on the link at Task 4: Generate a What-If Report/Finalized Plan. Click on the green Create a New Report button. At the next screen, make sure the correct Career and Program Career Scenarios are selected. Click on the green Submit Request button. 5
1 2 3 The What-If Report can be viewed on screen, or as a pdf. For the on screen version, please note the following: Courses are indicated as: There is a chronological listing of courses, as well as sections showing the degree requirements and specialty requirements. If a section is collapsed (only the blue band with the white heading is showing), those requirements have been met. If a section is expanded, some portion of the requirements has not been met and will be visible in the expanded section. If you would rather see the report in.pdf format, click on the green View Report as PDF button. Note that the same types of information are displayed in the.pdf report as they are in the on-line version. Courses are listed as being Taken (EN); In-Progress (IP); or Planned (PL). For each section there is information about the requirements and the extent to which those have been met. 6
When you have completed reviewing the.pdf report, close the browser window. Click on the Long-Range Plan tab at the top of the screen. When you are satisfied that your planner is completely correctly click on Task 5, Submit Matriculation Plan for advisor review. Note that the status of Task 4 has changed to the current date. Each time you update your planner, the date will change. If you need to add courses to your planner, you can do so following the steps out lined above. Sample, Susan 2334567 0115493 At this point an email will be sent to your advisor stating that you have completed your planner and it is ready for review. Your advisor will review your matriculation plan and either approve it or notify you that changes are needed. Once the plan is approved, the Long-Range Plan task list will be updated. The 7
hyperlink to Print Approved Mat Plan will be activated. Click on this link to view and print a.pdf copy of your plan as shown below. Features of the Plan of Study Agreement: Informatics 1. Statements that the plan of study is a student responsibility and that all deviations must be approved by advisor prior to implementing the change of plan. 2. Degree and specialty (ies) in which the student is enrolled. 3. Course list showing all course numbers, descriptions and units of credit by semester. (Note: typically offered is under revision). 4. Student s electronic signature showing the student s name; IDs, and the date the plan was submitted to the advisor for review and approval. The advisor s name is also included. 5. Four reasons why a plan is being submitted. 6. Button for the advisor to approve the plan as submitted or to cancel, if the plan cannot be approved as written. At the bottom of the Plan of Study Agreement electronic signatures for both the student and the advisor are visible, as are dates for plan submi ssion and plan approval.
