EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING BE PREPARED TO NURTURE WHY STUDY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AT AVONDALE? There couldn t be a better time to consider a career in early childhood education or to upgrade your current qualifications to degree level. There is currently a shortage of early childhood teachers with a four year bachelor s degree. The Australian Government has implemented its universal access in childhood education initiative, leading to significant growth in the Australian early childhood sector. Avondale teaching graduates have a reputation for being some of the most capable teachers in Australia. In 2011, 90 percent of students were offered a full-time teaching position straight after graduation. Avondale also has strong industry connections with various primary schools, preschools and day care centres throughout Lake Macquarie and Australia, giving you access to quality work experience opportunities throughout your degree. Avondale s Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)(Birth 5 years) is also offered via distance education (conditions apply), allowing you to study at a time that suits you - after work, on weekends, or while the kids are at school. The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)(Birth 5 years) degree is designed to provide Early Childhood qualifications in the context of Christian values. This degree not only prepares students to enter the teaching profession in an early childhood centre, preschool or infant school, but also prepares students to be responsible and ethical leaders in an age where children need positive Christian role models. Avondale has been providing excellence in Christian higher education since 1897. We are committed to providing education that prepares people to make a significant difference in the world. 2 P a g e

Documentation will normally be in the form of an original copy of an official academic transcript (in English), supported by unit outlines and any other relevant documentation. The Faculty or School Learning and Teaching Committee decide on credit to be granted on the basis of prior learning.
