The University was founded as the Moscow Imperial College of Engineering (IMIU) by the Decree of Emperor Nicholas the Second on May 23 rd (June 4 th ), 1896 Classes started on September 12 th, 1896 Inauguration of the monument to Nicholas II September 26 th, 2016 5
