St Patrick s CBC Weekly Information Sheet 1-2017 10 January 2017 Dear Parents and Guardians, W hen you E nter this L oving school C onsider yourself O ne of the special M embers of an E xtraordinary family It s the beginning of a new school year and it is with great anticipation, hope and enthusiasm that I am looking forward to embark on this 2017 journey with you and your family. St Patrick's CBC is very proud to announce that the Grade 12s of 2016 have maintained the school's 100% exam pass rate in the senior certificate examinations. 83% of the Grade 12s attained Bachelor Degree passes and 17% Diploma passes. Well done to the Class of 2016! We wish them all the best with their future endeavours. The St Patrick s family has grown to an astonishing 821 pupils this year and I would like to especially welcome our newest family members. You will soon discover that CBC has heart. I have really come to know the school in the past year as a place of compassion, warmth and kindness and I pray that you would experience the same generosity in the time you spend here. Please note that this morning s Orientation for new pupils REPLACED the New Parents' meeting indicated on the Term 1 Calendar (on 10 January at 17h30). I am pleased to welcome the following new staff members: Mrs de Beer Senior Primary, Mrs Von Solms Grade 3, Ms Jacobs Grade R, Mrs Ngcakani Senior Primary Setswana, Mrs Shumba Business Studies & EMS, Mr Solomon Head of Music, Mrs Van Niekerk Grade 3, Mrs Ward Senior Primary, Ms Motho Crèche assistant and Mrs Janse van Rensburg Crèche. Please note that school starts at 07h25 for both High School and Primary School. Please use the Du Toitspan Road entrance. Cornwall Road (on the school property) is exceptionally busy in the mornings, so please make sure that you arrive by no later than 07h15 every morning. That should give your child ample time to report to line-up at 07h25. For this week (Wednesday to Friday), it has been arranged that Henderson Street from Memorial Road to Milner Street will be converted into a one-way street. The direction of the traffic will be from Memorial towards Milner as this would not add to the congestion of the generally busy Memorial Road. You will have five exit points, namely turning left or right into Milner Street, or proceeding toward Carrington Road and then turning left or right. On Wednesday, 11 January 2017, the school will be closing at 13h00 for grades 2-12. The normal school times are as follows: The High School day ends at 14h00 each day. Gr 3-7 day ends at 14h00 Mon-Thu and Gr 2-7 day ends at 13h00 every Friday. The Grade 1 day ends at 13h00 every day (but 12h30 until 31 January 2017). 1
The Grade 2 day ends at 13h30 Monday to Thursday. The Grade R and RR s finish at 12h00 Monday to Friday. Even though we ordered ample clothing stock last year, the sudden growth spike unfortunately resulted in us running out of certain uniform items or specific sizes. This is being addressed as a matter of urgency. The Admin and Finance offices as well as the Book/Clothing shop will be open from 07h30 16h30 today, after which it will return to the normal hours. The Bookshop/Clothing Shop will be open on Mondays to Thursdays from 08h00 15h30 and on Fridays from 08h00 13h00. The Finance Office is open for payment of fees and general finance queries every Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:30. Unfortunately, there has been a delay with the delivery of the textbooks and stationery due to the seasonal closure of certain key merchants. We will inform you as soon as the suppliers deliver. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are telephonically contacting all the relevant parents as their stationery packs arrive. The teachers are well aware of the problem and will accommodate the pupils affected. I want to assure you that this would not hamper the academic programme planned for this period. All crèche parents are invited to please join us for a general information evening on Monday, 16 January 2017 at 17h30 in the Boarding house chapel. With the adjustment of the Grade 7 s once again forming part of the primary school this year, it was agreed that the girls may wear grey skirts and white school shirts instead of the dress, as a special privilege. This is however not compulsory, and parents may choose if they wish to change over to the new uniform. Please be reminded of the Grade 7 General Parent Meeting on Monday, 16 January in the Cenotaph. Best wishes to the Grade 8 s leaving for camp on Thursday. May you enjoy your time away and may you really be blessed and grow closer in friendship and unity. Please check the calendar as there are a number of parents evenings scheduled for next week.
