Jack Britt High School Jack Britt High School is on a 4X4 block schedule meaning students take 4 classes for 90 days during the first semester and 4 new classes for 90 days during the second semester! Students must pass at least 6 of the 8 classes they take during their 9 th grade year in order to be promoted to the 10 th grade. A passing grade in English I is also required for promotion!

Future-Ready Core: Rationale The guiding mission of the NC State BOE is that every public school student will graduate from high school, globally competitive for work and postsecondary education and prepared for life in the 21 st century. If the level of expectation is not the same for all students, then high school graduates will not be given the foundation of academic and life skills that they will need to succeed in college or a career.

All 9th graders take eight classes, five required and three electives. Students request the courses they wish to take, but actual placement is made by the administration of Jack Britt High School. Course placement will be based on final grades and end-of-grade test scores for the student s current school year.

Information You will turn in all registrations to your homeroom teacher by February 10 th. Any questions about registration you can email Ms. Garison Schedules are sent home early June. Schedule change request forms are on the reverse side of your schedule and due back to school 2 weeks following schedules sent home. Changes are made only during this time. No changes are made after 1 st semester unless a pre-requisite is failed.
