Introduction Cengage Learning now provides integration with your Canvas course. This enables instructors to add Cengage Learning 4LTR Press Online content to their courses, synchronize scores, and eliminate multiple logins for students. Audience This document supports for instructors who teach at institutions that use the Canvas Learning Management System. Objectives This guide introduces instructors to procedures needed to access Cengage Learning s Integration Services within Canvas courses. This guide includes the following topics: Enable the Cengage integration in a Canvas course. Add deep links to Cengage content into a Canvas course. Select activities to synchronize scores with the Canvas Gradebook. Add Cengage Technical Support link to a Canvas course. Canvas Integration Page 2
Add the Cengage Integration Tool Instructors access and manage Cengage Learning content by adding the Cengage Learning Tool into their course. You can add the Cengage link to your course in one of two ways. One option is to add a tool link to the course navigation. The second option is to add an external tool link within a module. Cengage recommends adding the link to the course Navigation menu to make it more accessible. The link functions the 4LTR Press Online way whether you add it to the navigation menu or in a module. Course Navigation Link Complete the following steps to add the Cengage Tool to the Canvas course navigation. IMPORTANT: If you add the course navigation link you do not need to add the module link mentioned in the Module Link section. NOTE: The Cengage Tool link is accessible to teachers or instructors and is not visible to students. Step 1 Hover over Courses from the Canvas home page. Select a Canvas course. Module Link You can add the Cengage Tool link to a module within your Canvas course. IMPORTANT: If you already added a Cengage link on the navigation menu, proceed to Create a 4LTR Press Online Course Level Link. Step 1 Click Modules on the Canvas course page. 3 Click the drop down from the Add to Cengage box. Result: A list of item options display. 4 Select External Tool from the drop down. Result: A list of external tools displays. Canvas Integration Page 8
5 Click Cengage Learning. NOTE: Your Canvas administrator may use a different name for the Cengage Learning Tool. Result: The Cengage Learning tool is selected. Canvas Integration Page 9

Create a 4LTR Press Online Course Level Link To add a Cengage Learning 4LTR Press Online course to your Canvas course, complete the following steps: Step 1 Click the Cengage link on the Navigation menu. Result: The Cengage Learning screen displays. 2 Login to create an Access Token. NOTE: This is a one-time process required for all of the Cengage integration enabled courses. Click Login. 3 Link you Canvas account with your Cengage Learning account. Login in using your credentials. NOTE: This is a one-time process required for all of the Cengage integration enabled courses. Enter your Cengage Learning Faculty Account Username and Password. Click Login. Result: The Select Content Source page displays providing a list of courses available to your institution. 4 Select the product to use in your course. NOTE: If you do not see your adopted course, please contact your Cengage Learning Consultant. Result: The Create Course in Cengage/4LTR Press Online page displays. 5 The first time you connect to a product from each Canvas course, a prompt displays to create a course. Select Create a new 4LTR course. Result: The Create Course in 4LTR Press Online screen displays. Canvas Integration Page 12
6 Fill in the following fields: Course Name The 4LTR Press Online course name. Course Start Date The date students can access the course. NOTE: The Course Start Date is the first date students can access the course and defines the course grace period. Course End Date The date the course ends. Time Zone The time zone that the course is held. Click Continue. Result: The Link to Cengage/4LTR Press Online Course screen displays. It redirects you to the Import Completed page. 7 Click Continue. Deep Linking to Specific Learning Activities in 4LTR Press Online Deep Linking is adding links into a Canvas course that take students to a specific 4LTR Press Online Activity. Adding deep links directly to a Canvas course enables students to click a link to navigate to the activity within 4LTR Press Online, instead of needing to navigate to it within the 4LTR Press Online course. If you want the scores of a graded activity to synchronize to your Canvas gradebook, add a deep link to the activity into your course. NOTE: Instructors need to create the assignment in 4LTR Press Online before they add it as a deep link. Add Content links from a 4LTR Press Online course Add links to specific content items from the Cengage course using the following procedure: Step 1 Launch the Cengage link from the Navigation menu. Result: The Select Content Source screen displays. 2 Click the Linked tab. Result: The Select Content screen displays. 3 Select the course. Result: The Select Content page displays. 4 The Content Selector displays any Assignments you created in 4LTR Press Online as well as textbook specific content. Click the horizontal triangle to the left of the content folders to expand the objects. Result: The folders expand to display content. 5 Click the check box next to the content to add. NOTE: Each item that includes ADD TO GRADEBOOK automatically creates an Assignment in the Canvas course and an associated gradebook column. If you want to link the Assignment but not have it synchronized to the Canvas Gradebook, deselect ADD TO GRADEBOOK. Result: The content selected for import displays in blue. 6 Click the Confirm Selections button at the top or bottom of the screen. Result: The Confirm Your Selections screen displays listing all the items selected from the Select Content page. 7 Click Save. Result: The Canvas course home page displays. Canvas Integration Page 18

Add a Cengage Technical Support Link into an Integrated Course The Cengage Technical Support Link enables instructors and students to create new support cases that will route directly to a dedicated Cengage LMS Technical Support group.
