Introductory N4 - N6: These courses are offered and assessed by Oxbridge Academy. Assessor and Moderator Courses: These courses are offered and assessed by Oxbridge Academy, and verified and certified by the ETDP SETA. These courses are credit-bearing, registered on the NQF, and can articulate to national qualifications. OXBRIDGE ACADEMY PROGRAMMES These skills development programmes include short courses and certificates. These courses are intended for personal improvement and improved performance in the workplace. The courses are offered, assessed, and certified by Oxbridge Academy and are not credit-bearing or registered on the NQF. What are ASSESSOR AND MODERATOR courses? These are the courses that prepare you to work as an assessor or moderator in South Africa. Assessors and moderators are hired by skills development providers to assess unit standards and qualifications that are registered on the NQF. Skills development providers can include organisations that provide training to their employees in the workplace. Assessors and moderators can either work as employees of skills development providers, or they can work as independent contractors. If you already have a relevant diploma, degree, or occupational qualification, and you want to study further to become a qualified assessor or moderator, these courses are for you. While the courses listed in this document are short courses, they are credit-bearing courses that are registered on the NQF, and they can articulate to full national qualifications. Important note: In addition to being suitably qualified, assessors and moderators must be registered with the relevant Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) before they will be allowed to assess or moderate unit standards and/or qualifications on the NQF.

What ASSESSOR AND MODERATOR Courses do we offer? We offer the following short courses, which are verified and certified by the ETDP SETA: 1. Conduct outcome-based assessment: Assessor 2. Conduct moderation of outcome-based assessment: Moderator What will you learn when you study an Assessor course? This credit-bearing course will equip you with the skills you need to prepare for and conduct outcomes based assessments. What does an assessor do? In the context of education, an assessor determines whether a learner is competent in relation to the criteria or outcomes for a particular unit standard or qualification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). An assessor is responsible for: Explaining the assessment process, as well as the required outcomes, to the learner. Assessing the learner s competence. Giving constructive feedback on the assessment to the learner. Recording the outcomes of the assessment.

An assessor needs to be a subject matter expert in relation to the contents of the unit standards and qualifications being assessed. Upon completion of this course, students will be awarded a unit standard completion certificate from Oxbridge Academy, as well as a statement of results and certificate from the ETDP SETA. What will you learn when you study a Moderator course? This credit-bearing course will equip you with the skills you need to perform quality assurance in relation to the conducting of outcomes-based assessments.

What does a moderator do? A moderator is responsible for quality assurance in relation to the assessment process. This means that a moderator will: Make sure that learners are assessed in a consistent and well-designed manner. Make sure that assessments are carried out fairly. Handle appeals by dissatisfied learners. Evaluate the performance of assessors.
